49 yr old female of native descent.formerly from the 300+ yr old town of Burlington ,NJ.
now living on the island of Chincoteague,Va.This small outcrop is a horse lover's paradise( our sister island is home to one of the two herds of wild "ponies" living on the east coast.)
this tiny island has lots of history,and is just full of cemetaries.some of the founding family names are as follows
jester
jones
bunting
bebee
cherricks (or cherrux)
maddux
merritt
bowman
whaitley
daisey
adams
there are several cemetaries affiliated with the churches here,there are also several family cemetaries(see the name listing above)
there is one black cemetary,and at least one civil war cemetary; but most of the older graves are lost at sea, or lost to childhood desease.
