I was born and raised in Newhall, California and started doing genealogy research with my Aunt Nelle in the 1980's. I also love antiques and usually take a camping trip in the summer to do research work and search for treasures. Both are never ending projects and lots of fun. Am happy to take photos of headstones in the Eternal Valley Cemetery in Newhall and Santa Paula Cemetery in Santa Paula.
Please email me with any corrections to the information that I post on memorials. Most of the memorials I post are not my direct family, and I will happily transfer memorials that are unrelated to me to ANY family member that requests it. I do not "own" these memorials, and love to see them connected to the families they belong with.
*** While I love photos of people added to the memorials, I prefer not to add a copy of the death certificate. I usually have looked at the certificates and have added any information found there to the memorial and don't see a need for a photo of that to be posted. Thank you for understanding and not adding photos of the certificates to memorials I have posted. Missouri death certificates are free on the Missouri State site and are easily referenced.***
Find A Grave is a wonderful site, and I am so grateful that it exists so we can share information with each other!
I just wanted to reach out and Thank You once again. I have THOROUGHLY gone thru the folder that you created for me in recently months. I have created a bunch of memorial pages as a result of that information. Miraculously, my uncle called me and said he has another box of keepsakes to send me; stuff that my mom and grandma collected. (that should be here SOON!) I have leared so much because of your efforts. And just today, I saw a photo of my great-grandmother for the first time. It's like they say, "Build it, and they will come". So many great things have happened since I first saw the page you created for my mom. I'm forever grateful for all you have done for my family (on both sides). -Cheston
RE: Reuben Tharp Thanks for adding the additional info. I found a marriage date of 3 June 1875 for Mary Wyckoff and Reuben Samuel Tharp in Linn Co, KS, so you may want to change it again. :) It's not necessary to transfer him, or any of the rest of the family to me, but thanks, anyway! (I had a few more changes for Reuben that I forgot to do.)
Re: Memorial# 81642281 FYI I just noticed that the death date has the incorrect month. The tombstone indicates that the death date is Jun 13, 1983. It would be very easy to enter Jan instead of Jun as the death month. (and I probably have made that mistake several times too.)
RE: Henry Surman Janet, Thank you. I would be honored to maintain Henry Surman's (122423518) memorial - I just hope to learn where Rhoda is buried for sure at some point. I love the background in your photo.
RE: Benjamin Franklin Barrick #55008449 Thank you, Janet, for the transfer of Ben's memorial. I don't know what's going on either, but it's obviously something with the program software. If I can't get it straightened out myself, I'll contact Find-A-Grave to have them fix the problem.
Thanks, again, for all your time and efforts. You are a credit to Find-A-Grave!
RE: Benjamin Franklin Barrick #55008449 Thanks so much for your prompt edit, but there is something else strange going on! I just checked Ben's page, and his first wife (Rosa Bell Burkett) is now showing up twice on his page, and he is showing up twice on her page!
As for Eva, she is not buried next to Ben in the Pierce Brothers Santa Paula Cemetery. Apparently, that is why there is no death date engraved on their mutual gravestone. I have a copy of Eva's death certificate, and she died 7 Sep 1974 in Dallas, Dallas Co., TX. She was then buried 9 Sep 1974 in Laurel Land Cemetery, Dallas, Dallas Co., TX, next to some other Barrick family members.
Eva's name on the death certificate was spelled Eva Mae Barnhart Barrick, and she was born 12 Mar 1888 in Missouri.
Since Eva was not buried in the Pierce Brothers Santa Paula Cemetery, would you like for me to create a memorial for her in the Laurel Land Cemetery? Either way, it looks like we'll need to delete her entry in the Pierce Brothers Santa Paula Cemetery. I didn't realize when I sent the "duplicate" spouse edit that Eva was in a different cemetery! It was only when I checked her death certificate to get her death date and death place for you that I noticed the cemetery was different.
Thanks for everything you do on Find-A-Grave and adding the memorial for my cousin, Benjamin Franklin Barrick.
I wanted to let you know that somehow, his wife, Eva May Barnhart, is listed on his memorial, and he is listed twice on hers. I think there must have been something go wrong with the Find-A-Grave software because it only shows one spouse listed for each of them in the relationship edits I can see. If you could delete one of the extra listings, I'd appreciate it. They were not married to each other twice. :)
