Bio Photo Friends, you are invited to visit the memorial page for for our son
Nathan Peurifoy He died unexpectedly in October 2014 at age 26 from a diabetic coma.
I am taking a leave of absence from Find a grave for awhile. I'll keep up with my edits, but corrections will just have to wait..
Thank you all for your prayers, friendship and care. It is appreciated.

The life of a person is more than the dash between two dates. It is my hope that the memorials which I create or manage can make the individuals life fuller, even if just linking to family members or adding a few tidbits of information. Researching and including other family information makes them more than graves, they are people. Suggestions are welcome but please submit them using the edit button at the upper right corner of each memorial.
Even when transcribing cemeteries I work hard to link other family members.
I live in the northwestern mountains of North Carolina and have work primarily in cemeteries there. My current focus is Carolina Memorial Park in Concord, North Carolina. There are 28,000 graves but only about 9,000 listed. I've done more than 4,000 of those. Much of my family is buried there.

My family can be traced back 46 generations to County Leichester, England. The family is English/Norman. They came to England with William after the Battle of Hastings in 1066. The photo above is my ancestor, Sir Nicholas Purefoy, buried in The Church of St. Michael and all Angels in Fenny Drayton, Co. Leicestershire, England. The spelling of my name is the most rare of the three family groups: Purefoy, Purifoy and Peurifoy. The early Purefoys were in Jamestown, VA long before the Hugonaut movement.
On my paternal side I am interested in the Peurifoy, Purifoy, Purefoy, Scott and Suther families.
For my maternal side are Statons, Stiller's,and Moores (from Stanly Co, NC).
My wife is from the Byrd and Carr families of Duplin County, NC.
You are invited to visit the memorials of my grandmother Lillian Scott Peurifoy, my mother
Hazel Staton Peurifoy
and Father Robert Eugene Peurifoy.

Photos of graves are free to use. However, personal photos of individuals are copyrighted by this writer and can only be used on other sites by written request via email (not "public messages on my personal page) and acknowledgement of original owner of the photograph.

Thanks to all who help with my typo, mistakes and incorrect links. I could not accomplish this without your help.

Proud member of the Patriot Guard Riders.

RE: Marion Hinds Memorial Transfer
Robert, my sister in law, who is buried at Oak Plains, also, was Rebecca Jane Williams (1932-2009) and she was the daughter of David Wilkerson Williams Sr. and Bettie Eleanor Hall. Rebecca was born in Rockfish Twsp, Rose Hill, N.C. Perhaps your wife new her or her family.

Once again, I would like to extend my sincere condolenses to you and your family for your loss.

It was heartbreaking to read of your son. Your memorial page was beautiful. I am so sorry for your loss.

My reason for accessing your profile page was to share a link I found on Lucy Morgan who is among your memorial pages. I enjoyed your bio on her. I am a Find A Grave member who appreciates learning about the life of the person for whom the page was made. I found the link below while working on the family of a WWII veteran in the Cherokee area.

Thought you might like to know about this link. Click: Lucy Morgan

RE: Marine Corps
Robert, so sorry it's taken me so long to get back to yo. Dad was in the Army. Co G 185th Infantry out of Sep Cen Camp Beale, CA. He enlisted on Dec. 16, 1940, entered into active service on March 3, 1941 from Ontario, CA. He was in the battles of Luzon and the Southern Phillippines GO 33 WD 45. He received the Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, American Defense Service Medal, and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 1 Bronze Star. He was issued an Honorable Discharge on June 8, 1945. After that he entered into the Civil Service. Sometime in the 50's he started work at Elmendorf outside of Anchorage until the mid 70's. Probably had you after the word "Army" instead of Marines but thought I'd jot it all down so I don't lose it. Have lots of paperwork on him. He didn't keep his medals or uniform though. Don't know what he saw over there but he would only talk to his Army buddies about it occasionally away from our family. I'll have to read up on your Dad. It's a pleasure to meet someone who has a Dad that fought so valiantly for our Country. Again, apologies for taking so long to get back to you. Lost Mom last November 29th and have been fighting a hard battle against a nursing home here in Tulsa that tortured, abused, and nearly killedher 8 years ago. Check out the group on Facebook called A PERFECT CAUSE. Fighting for Vets that are being abused across the country in various VA Centers as well as nursing home abuse here in Oklahoma. We rate 49th in the country for the deplorable conditions and lack of needed laws to protect our elderly in nursing homes. Then 10 days ago my Husband of 15 years suffered a major stroke and is still in the ICU. A nursing home is in his future here in Oklahoma and it scares me to death. Anyway, it's been a crazy nightmare of a year.

Thank you so very much for the transfers of my White family members through my great-grandmother.
You are always such a pleasure to work with and we appreciate all you do for Find A Grave. We have found several Contributors who are difficult to work with and very possessive of Memorials they set up for people who are not even related to them. This is never the case with you and we applaud your attitude and appreciate your efforts!

RE: Pete Mclaughlin
Thank you for your reminder. As soon as Mr. McLaughlin is listed on the VA website and I can verify his info, I will update his memorial.

Many thanks,
