Bio and Links
Bio Photo I live in Kanawha County, West Virginia but my primary interest is in the families of the Richmond District of Raleigh County, West Virginia.

It is my preference that you use my email address as shown on this page.

PLEASE do not ask for edits to include a locality where one was born or died. My intention is to provide the county or independent city for which a death record can be located. Many times a family member may list an incorrect place of birth while stressfully providing information for a death record or obituary. Similarity a death record may state that death occurred in a hospital (where one was pronounced dead) while death may have actually occurred elsewhere such as the personal residence.
Thank you.

Richard Thompson
Carbon WV Cemetery
I see where you put in a Harry Thompson in the Carbon Cemetery. I want to go there and look.

My question is do you have any tips to find it or can I use my GPS to get to it.

Is it a long way from the road or is it easy to walke there.

Thanks very much for what you do not these.

Tina Jenkins Crego
Directions to HollyGrove Cemetery
Russell, My name is Tina Jenkins Crego. My Grandfather and Grandmother is buried in Holly Grove Cemetery there (Henry Jenkins and Dollie Jenkins) and I haven't been up there in probably 15 years since my father Carl Jenkins passed away. I am coming that direction the weekend of memorial day and want to come to the cemetery but have no address or idea how to find it. Can you help me out here. I would appreciate and info you can give me.
Thanks in advance.

Dusty Bainter
Nellie Evans / William Edwin Evans
Mr. Bennett,

My name is Dusty Bainter. I am currently in the process of looking into my family roots. I have discovered that Nellie Evans / William Edwin Evans are my Great Grandparents on my mothers side. I noticed that you posted a picture of Nellie Evans gravestone on this site and I was hoping to get a picture of her Husband William Edwin Evans Headstone. I am only assuming it would be the same cemetery (Gethsemane Memorial Gardens). Can you give me any information get a picture?

I was just saving that bit of info on Rutherford or Hayes, and found a mention of a some sort of work record with the railroad. It has tons of pages, I wondered if you were interested in seeing?

Its all page by page and not in a whole presentation since I can not figure out how to make a PDF.

I can send a few pages just to show you an example of it

Ya know we should get to emailing instead of this

RE: Richmond/Cemetery
"I can understand how he came to be called Rutherford Hayes Richmond. Allen's father, Samuel Richmond, Sr., had at least one meeting with the then, Col. Hayes, during the Civil War. The Senior Richmond sought protection from the Union troops led by Hayes to protect his mill and ferry from the Confederates. Col. Hayes declined but offered to arm and give rations to a company of men that Samuel Richmond would organize. That company came to be called Company A, 184th Virginia Militia. This was a Union regiment which disbanded before WV became a state and thus Virginia Militia is what they were known as rather than WV Militia."

WOW that is cool. I have all sorts of facts but no stories really, none at all. Except now i have the one above

We love wood heat and I've always wanted a wood stove to cook on. Not sure I'd like it in summer though

I'd be glad to share whatever I have. Not sure how to present it to you.

I can make a list of what I have which would basically be censuses, birth records, marriage and divorce, death records, military records. (I'm no good at making stories out of it)

Oh and I did have a few things on Allen's parents. Just a few though, nothing major.

I dont have a laptop so I dont have that possibility of easy theft but of course anyone can come in the house but we have two big horses (dogs) that would kind of prevent them from getting in here

Like I said I really need my stuff backed up again because I have just sooooo much on my family lines, both sides, but, maternal lines I've chased for a few years now.

The paternal side is from Tennessee way-and there are SOOO many duplicate names in their history and TN is not too forth coming with info free online but that was several years ago.

If I ever get to a point with the maternal side I might head back over there but I haven't even touched the Fuller side except for the main name line. I still have all the other related married in lines to kill but my current goal is to wrap up the main Fuller line. I'd say I am like 75% done with researching them but like I said before, I find something missing along the way and I'm off researching again-Its hard to organize all of this but that researching is so addictive!

Let me know if you think I might have something you can use

RE: Richmond/Cemetery
"He was dressed and looked like a ghost from the 1880'swith full length duster and big floppy western hat. We talked for an hour. I've met with him many times since then."

WOW, why did he dress that way?

Lost your computer? Oh I would be heart broken. I hope you do back ups now?? I do them occasionally and I am due soon

ATC Richmond and Rachel Bragg are Rutherford's parents. He used Hayes most of the time but Rutherford is more cool!

I'm up in central Michigan. Most of this side of the family is in Ohio and Michigan. I've had next to nothing out of these two states so moving onto W VA is getting more interesting-plus I learn more about the areas.

RE: Richmond/Cemetery
Ah...I have not gone past Allen since it really doesn't relate. I would if I came across the info. Just too OCD I guess.

Now I know who to go to on that cemetery. Do you live near by or related to the family?
