|A retired pharmacist, I live in Somerset Center, Hillsdale Co., MI and |
am an avid genealogy researcher, particularly of the Larzelere and McDermott families as well as descendants of the "Canada Settlement" families of Illinois. Due to health problems I am no longer able to get out to cemeteries on a regular basis. I will check the photo requests for various cemeteries in eastern Hillsdale Co. and western Lenawee Co. on a "when able" basis.
Please contact me by E-mail with any additions or corrections desired on individual memorials, or to request transferring memorials. I am willing to transfer the maintenance of any memorials except those I am related to, so long as the request is made within FAG standards, which are (Transfer requests should be for direct relatives within four generations. A SPECIAL THANKS TO BRIAN DESERMIA FOR THE WORK OF GATHERING AND FORWARDING ADDITIONAL INFO ON NEARLY ALL INTERMENTS IN RIVERSIDE CEMETERY IN CLINTON, MICHIGAN, as well as to all persons who have sent additional info for memorials I have posted. It is all greatly appreciated.

Wondering if it would be okay to copy and use the grave photo for my husband's tree, provided you are credited with taking the photo. Thanks!

Thanks for looking into this and making that edit! After doing more research the last couple of days, I have come to the conclusion that Edward Black is Charles Edward Black with parents Frank M Black & Mary Elizabeth Daines. (If you want to see the sources I found, his page at https://familysearch.org/tree/#view=ancestor&person=L66H-G7Z has them all listed. You need a free familysearch account to see it.) He married Mary Grace Barnes and they had a daughter, J. Maude Black White (married briefly to Albert White). She might have remarried later to Elmer McFarren. They are all buried in Bellona Cemetery. I am not related to them and won't be working on that line anymore. I was just trying to sort out the discrepencies in the family of Alexander R Black & Mary Grace Martin & their son, Charles M. Black. Those names are all clearly marked on one tombstone at Bellona.

I am writing to ask if you remember creating FindaGrave memorial # 75722112 for Edward Black in the Bellona Cemetery in Yates County, New York. A note on the memorial indicates he is the son of Alexander R. and Grace Black but I can find no evidence of that. Can you tell me where that information came from?
I cannot find Edward living with Alexander & Grace in any census records in the years he was growing up but there is an Edward or C Edward or Charles Edward living with Frank & Mary Black in Yates County, born about the same time. I think Frank and Mary might really be his parents.
Alexander & Grace Black had a son, Charles, born about 1876. They lived in Yates County, NY in 1875 then apparently moved to Ontario County, NY.
Alexander, Frank, Charles & Edward were all stone masons. Alexander's father & Frank's father were born in Maryland according to most federal census records.
I have requested a photo of Edward Black's grave marker, hoping that it might clarify things.
Thank you for your efforts with findagrave.com. I find it an extremely valuable resource.
