Please feel free to use any pics that I post on Findagrave and please contact me about any changes or transfers. I took them for each of you to have!

I have been doing genealogy for about 5 years now. My sister and I have been going to different cemeteries around our county and taking pictures of headstones and adding them. We have been successful at finding a few cemeteries hidden on people's properties. We do not have family ties in these cemeteries, we do it to help everyone else. We also do it to document old graves before they are long gone and no one knows they were there. I have been searching for several family graves in other states for years. I hope someone comes across them one day and I hope we come across one that you are looking for one day!

Westview photo requests

I would like to help you find your photo request at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta.

Westview is massive – the largest cemetery in the whole Southeast. Would you please help me by calling the cemetery office at 404-755-6611 to find out whether the grave is marked with a monument or marker or both AND what the section and lot numbers are.

Then I will gladly look.

The office is reluctant to give out that information to non-relatives.

Thank you so much for your time and effort in adding. I too allow ALL my photos to be used, that is what I do this for, to share with the family that may not otherwise be able to get the photos another way. I travel all over the country via motor home and when stopped I will visit a cemetery hoping to get information for others, I love to pay it forward as I have gotten much information from findagrave that I would otherwise never find. So, thanks again. Cindy

Ms. Clyde
You've put a photo on memorial 79691651 which I would like you to check to see if it's the right one. Different names, etc... Thanks and please let me know if you maybe meant to put a different one, so I can update the memorial with dates, etc.

Joseph Asbury
I deleted the photo of Joel Asbury from the memorial. That is a strange coincidence that it is not the same person.

Dorcas was my great-grand aunt. I am not sure where you fit in relation to George Washington Asbury the supposed father of Dorcas. I have not evidence that he was Dorcas' father and am now trying to contact some of her descendants to sort out the basis for indicating George was her father.

RE: Dorcas Asbury
Messages have been deleted. I think I made a little mistake. John Asbury is identified as a sibling and not a father. Sorry about causing any confusion.

As it happens the manager of the George Asbury memorial is deceased.

Find-a-grave James Little Asbury

Mary Catherine (Edmonds) (Asbury) Shrader, 1861-1944. (Mother of James Little Asbury) married twice. After the death of her first husband she married widower John Fulton Shrader
1.James Washington Asbury, 1862-1905

Mary wrote the following poem:
From: “Clinch Valley News”
Tazewell, Tazewell, VA
Friday, March 29, 1940
A tribute of love and devotion to the memory of my loving son, James Asbury, who left us 2 years ago, March 16, 1938

The month of March is here again
It’s the saddest day in the year
For two years ago today
My loving son passed away

Peaceful be thy rest, dear Jimmie
Tis’ sweet to just call your name
In life we loved you so dearly
In death just the same

In our aching hearts your memory lingers
You were faithful, loving, true
There is not a day that passes
That we do not think of you

You, were gone Jimmie
For only a little while
We will never have another
To fill your place and smile

Little did I think the last time I saw your sweet smiling face coming up the steps with all of your loved ones, Dec. 25, to celebrate that great day with mother, that was the beginning of heart aches.

Mary C. Shrader

I copied this at the Tucson, AZ Main Library from interlibrary loan microfiche in 2000
…as I was making books about Tazewell Co VA for my mom, Hettie Marie (Shrader) Eagle, 1918-2006. Mom is double kin to all the Shrader & Sluss families.
