Bio

I am Gladys Goodwin by birth daughter of Samuel Tilden Goodwin. My father was the son of Samuel T. Goodwin born 1847 in Brightsville, Marlboro County, South Carolina and died in Arcadia, Bienville Parish, Louisiana. He married Mary Larkin born 1863 in Brookhaven, Mississippi and died in 1926 in Arcadia, Louisiana. They had moved to Texas and lived for several years, moving back to Louisiana in c. 1907. My father and 2 sisters being the oldest children remained in Texas while the younger children went to Louisiana. Samuel T. Goodwin, Sr. was the son of John W. Goodwin and Ann McLaurin Goodwin who went to Raymond, Hinds County, MS in 1854 arriving in April according to a letter I have. They had 4 children born in South Carolina before they left, Celeste, Samuel, Letitia and John L. John L. was born c. 1853 and died 26 March 1894 on a plantation on Homochito working as manager of consumption. The court records give wife Lelia Lafayette (Fatia) widow and adm. and children: Leon, Ethel, Erma. Ethel must have also died as she was not on the 1900 census. Fatia's brother George Herrington married Annie Laurin Hartzog daughter of Celeste Goodwin Hartzog and Isaac D. Hartzog also living in Mayersville, Isaquenna County, Mississippi.
I hope this will help someone and would love to hear from you.
