RE: John B. Howard Hello, Harry - Thank you for your message. I always love to hear from family, no matter how distantly related we may be (I think we would be first cousins 3 times removed). I am especially glad that you contacted me, because I have no information for your great-great grandmother. I know that she was married twice, but I have no children listed for her. I live in Illinois, and recently have been digging into the Howards in Stark County, John B. being one of them. Everyone there has been very helpful, but the truth is that record keeping that early on was poor to non-existent. I have come to the end of the line with John B. Howard. I can only speculate on who his parents and siblings may have been, and I have a strong suspicion that I am wrong. Mary Howard, Mahala's younger sister, also seems to have married a Ratliff, but I can't find any documentation other than a census record. Odd thing is, my grandmother, Retta Elizabeth Howard, married a Ratliff too, although I don't think he was related to the others - just a coincidence. I would love to share information. I hope I hear from you again.
