Genealogy is my greatest passion and I have been enjoying it for over 30 years. When I was able to travel, I went to various small towns to research. One place I visited in the 1990's was Havana, IL. Where my paternal 2nd great grandparents lived, raised their children, and are buried. Also, it seems, I had numerous cousins who once lived there.

When I first arrived, I parked the car on top of the hill overlooking the main town of Havana, stood there looking all around and quietly said "hello family". I almost expected a shout back of "hello cousin. welcome!" The main street and many of the old houses have been retained to their original appearance. A step back in history.

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) approved my application to join. This is a proud achievement for me. Following in the footsteps of two ancestors...a cousin and a great-grand aunt.
