My husband and I enjoy finding monuments for other people and am extremely grateful to the volunteers who have found my own people for me. We've been working on finding the little pioneer cemeteries in the area and putting their inhabitants online. Four of our memorial pages even helped to catch a gravestone thief. Cemeteries are extremely vulnerable to vandalism, theft, and the damage of time and weather. We appreciate all of the volunteers out there who are working so hard to document them before they are lost to history. Lately we're working hard to upload GPS coordinates with the Findagrave App-- WE LOVE IT!|

Please note that I adhere to Findagrave policy, whether or not you may agree with it:
◊Find A Grave's primary purpose is a graves registration website.
◊Find A Grave's secondary purpose is a memorialization/remembrance site.
◊Find A Grave's tertiary purpose is a genealogical resource.
If a listing or contribution corresponds with only the primary purpose, it has fulfilled its part of Find A Grave's mission and is not required to correspond with the secondary and tertiary purposes. Fulfilling the other two is welcomed, encouraged and deeply appreciated, but as far as Find A Grave's purpose goes, a memorial page isn't lacking if it does not.
Transfers are only made within the guidelines set up by Find A Grave. These guidelines are in place for a reason - whether one cares to accept them or not. I am not going to debate what the owner has deemed acceptable for his site with members who choose not to agree with the guidelines. "The ultimate goal should be to have meaningful, accurate memorials that honor those who have passed away, regardless of who created the memorial or who maintains it." I am willing to consider transferring ownership to you if you have a close family member among my records. I rarely transfer relationships more distant than first cousin... just having someone "in my family tree" or "a relative" will not elicit a transfer.
If you want information added to a memorial, go to the memorial and use the "Edit" tab to send me the information-- including family links. I will add information to the memorial, I do not transfer just because someone wants to add links or other information. Bottom line: what are you planning on doing with the entry that I haven't already done or am unable to do?
I may not transfer to you if the number of memorials that you manage is significantly greater than the number that you have contributed. Also, I hesitate to transfer memorials to those who do sloppy work, so emails laden with misspellings or other inaccuracies generally are ignored. Bad spelling is a pet peeve of mine.
On the other hand, I will always transfer if a memorial is sponsored. And if you upload family photos or in some other way add value to the memorial, I am much more willing to transfer.
I welcome all corrections to my own work. Some records were imported using OCR so have inevitable errors, both from the original records and from machine interpretation. I am only human and make mistakes, too, but will always make it priority to correct them.

Hello, I'm wondering if you have the parents names listed for FRANKLIN ANDREW (#31520318, Forks Cemetery)?

Hi there! Just a heads' up I'm in the Hillsboro area and took >600 photos today at Czech National Cemetery by Yuba. I'll be posting photos and family updates starting next week. I believe I also took the photo you requested of Albina Snorek. Updates coming soon!

Hi Carrie & Allen..
Thank you for taking care of the duplicate issue with this memorial. I received your edit request concerning the spelling of Shimer and I was wondering if you were descended from John & Salome?? My ancestry membership has expired and I hadn't done any research on his family to know if they had any children or not. I am related thru John's brother, Peter. I did check on Ancestry to see how many records came up under Shimer vs Scheimer and found that there are 18 other trees connected to him thru the spelling of Shimer.. I know that his headstone shows the spelling of Scheimer and I'm wondering how I could incorporate both spellings without hindering the search results for the Shimer name?? Any suggestions?? I'd really like it if Find A Grave offered some sort of alternate spelling box within the person's name.. I realize that most of the family members already know the different spelling variations of the Shimer name, but for those who don't, I feel that spelling it Scheimer could result in someone not finding him.. I'd really appreciate your input on this issue and if by chance you are descended from him I would gladly transfer his memorial to you and then you could make the final judgement on how he should be listed on here.

Hi Carrie ~
Got all your plot updates... did you make or find an actual map of this cemetery? If so, I'd truly appreciate a copy of it if possible. Thanks so much ~

Hello, thank you for taking photos of his headstone. Yes I would love to have them. Would you mind sending them via email? I haven't sponsored his memorial yet but don't want to delete his current photos. His mother is my cousin. Thank you so much!

That makes sense now that you've explained it. Thanks for your contributions to Find A Grave. I have been extremely pleased with everyone I've had dealings with through Find A Grave; everyone is so accommodating and willing to help other researchers and I really appreciate that.

I had to just change the cemetery on his page as the other person is inactive and I could not contact them. I did mine long before they did and my father is the one who gave me the cemetery name for his father. I added the pictures to the other persons listing. I think it was added by a genealogical society.
