Bio Photo WINTER 2016 MESSAGE:
We recently moved to Salem, Oregon, so are behind on our edits. But we will get to yours as soon as we can! Sorry for any delay.
My husband and I enjoy finding monuments for other people and am extremely grateful to the volunteers who have found my own people for me. We've been working on finding the little pioneer cemeteries in the area and putting their inhabitants online. Four of our memorial pages even helped to catch a gravestone thief. Cemeteries are extremely vulnerable to vandalism, theft, and the damage of time and weather. We appreciate all of the volunteers out there who are working so hard to document them before they are lost to history.

I'm not a numbers addict or collector, but I adhere to Findagrave policy:

◊Find A Grave's primary purpose is a graves registration website.

◊Find A Grave's secondary purpose is a memorialization/remembrance site.

◊Find A Grave's tertiary purpose is a genealogical resource.

Transfers are only made within the guidelines set up by Find A Grave. These guidelines are in place for a reason - whether one cares to accept them or not. I am not going to debate what the owner has deemed acceptable for his site with members who choose not to agree with the guidelines. "The ultimate goal should be to have meaningful, accurate memorials that honor those who have passed away, regardless of who created the memorial or who maintains it." I am willing to consider transferring ownership to you if you have a close family member among my records. I rarely transfer relationships more distant than first cousin... just having someone "in my family tree" or "a relative" will not elicit a transfer.

If you want information added to a memorial, go to the memorial and use the "Edit" tab to send me the information-- including family links. I will add information to the memorial, I do not transfer just because someone wants to add links or other information. Bottom line: what are you planning on doing with the entry that I haven't already done or am unable to do?

On the other hand, if you upload family photos or in some other way add value to the memorial, I am much more willing to transfer. I will always transfer a memorial if you sponsor it.

I welcome all corrections to my own work. Some records were imported using OCR so have inevitable errors, both from the original records and from machine interpretation. I am only human and make mistakes, too, but will always make it priority to correct them.

Once again, you have duplicated an existing memorial with extensive information and links, managed by a family member. #55744469.

Mary A Werkheiser, Forks Cemetery
Hi, I submitted an edit to add Peter L Werkheiser as her husband. She was his first wife & Rosetta Whitebread was his 2nd wife. Feel free to deny the edit. Source:

They're Not Alone
Photo for Kirk
We looked all over for her grave. Couldn't seem to find it. Was wondering if she may have been buried under name of Crawford instead of Kirk. Friend of mine showed up after we were almost done and told us she may be under that name cuz they may have buried her under her maiden name cuz they still think of her as Crawford. So when we go back out we will look again under both names. It is covered in pretty tall stickers out there so it is quite a task to work thru them all. But we are still trying. Are you related?

RE: New Dreisbach photos
You are welcome. We were at Plainfield Cemetery today and I found Elizabeth Dreisbach and her brother, Reuben's stones and added them to their memorials. Both stones are in poor shape but readable enough to know they are their stones. We also probed the ground where Josiah Dreisbach's stone should be according to the records and unfortunately did not hit anything that would have been his gravestone. The next time we go to Plainfield I will take flowers and lay them where he is buried and add that photo to his memorial.

RE: Sarah May Dreisbach memorial
If that is your wish, I am only trying to avoid confusion for the family and be sure the information is correct. I see that you have made a note on the memorial and I hope that you have also contacted the other party to ask for his cooperation. I sincerely hope that you will honor my request to add the link to her parents. Thank you for your efforts to help others with their family history.
