Martin Brinegar Cabin September 1, 1841 Photograph shows the Brinegar cabin and shed, prior to restoration and surrounded hy overgrowlh. near Doughton Park in section ZC ofthe Blue Ridge Parkway. Taken hy Thor Borreson in September 1841. This photograph offers an interesting juxtaposition to what the landscape looked like after the restorative work of the National Park Service. It would be difficult to know how the landscape appeared when Martin and Caroline Brinegar resided there. but this representation of the property is very different than what a visitor would see in 1875. The manicured landsca e that appears in the 1875 photographs iHustrates gmt many changes were made in order to make the Brinegar Cabin site more attractive for visitors. |Shirley Prock-Greer||re: Hall-Prock connections|
Larry, again I am sorry for not responding to you the first time. After looking you up.....I noticed that we have the "Hall" connection. That was exciting......as I know little about them.
I know that my great grandfather Thadeous died in a mental institution. I always heard (growing up)
that he had lots of mental problems.....I know my grandmother "Mary" did. I have tree on "Ancestry"
and would love more info on this side of the family. I am not currently doing any research, but you are welcome to look at my tree. It is Moss-Goff-Prock-Hall. Shirley Prock-Greer
|Shirley Prock-Greer||RE: prock|
So sorry about ignoring you..........it was not intentional. I do not check my computer for days and sometimes even a week may go by. Did you make a reference in your email about being related. I am sorry if I did not see it. What can I do for you? Looks like maybe your a "Prock".??????
LOL on the remark about living in Oregon too long!
It is true about Oregonians being stuck up and not very friendly! Anyway, I got a chuckle out of it! Please, send me another email and let me know what I can help you with. Sorry......
|Lisa||Trying to contact you!|
Hello, Uncle Larry! I have tried to text you, but am being bounced back by your phone settings. It's doing the same thing as it did last time I tried to get in touch with you. Can you text me tomorrow afternoon?
I hope you receive this! I don't think I have any other way to contact you!

|maggie e.||James and Catherine McIlhattan|
I just noticed your last name is Rue. You must descended from Grizella and Charles Rue. James and Catherine are also in my grandparent line. I was wondering if you might be interested in comparing notes. One thing I was wondering if if you know why the spelling on the tombstone is different than the one used for the memorial. (My mother has always spelled it the way you have-McIlhatton with an "o")
Hope to hear from you.
|Cheryl||Lucy (Brady) Morrison|
Hi, I noticed you left "flowers" for Lucy and mentioned being her being your 3 great grandmother. She is my four great grandmother; I would love to share info and compare notes on the family.

|john clay||John Franklin Prock|
My name is John Clay and live in Lebanon,Mo. John Franklin Prock is my great great grandpa on my dads side of the family. I visited New Grove Cemetery and located his wife's grave Mary Todd Prock but could not locate his. I'm guessing it got knocked down and isn't there anymore. Do you know the exact plot where he was buried? The plot by his wife's was broken off and not there. I'm guessing it was probably it but I'm not sure. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you very much.

I went to the Cass County Court House this AM. I found no death records for him there. I though I could get some more info for you, but came up with nothing. If there is anything else I can do, please feel free to let me know. Carolyn DeLay
|Carolyn DeLay||Photo request for Ebenezer Gilbert|
Last year I photographed every grave in the Wiota Cemetery and updated the 1985 Cass County Cemetery Walk. There is no memorial for this person. If he was buried there, perhaps there was a wooden marker, just stones, or it was vandalized. Also the person that created this memorial is no longer affiliated with findagrave.com. Plot 131 was listed as bought by EB Gilbert. It may be that the person originating the memorial figured he was buried there. Maybe he bought it for his brother's family. The only other thing is to check the records out at the court house. FYI: Please check out the grave for Ebenezer B. Gilbert in the Avon Cemetery, Polk Co., Iowa. The birth dates are the same. There is a photo on that memorial. If there is anything else I can do, please feel free to contact me. Carolyn DeLay
