Lucy Frances McGowan McCarson # 37084121 Hi David: I am researching this line. I am related through the Tinkles to the Johnsons. I noticed your last name and wondered if we are related as my mothers maiden name was Johnson. Lucy McCarson's husband Thomas Benton McCarson's 1st wife was Maranda Ellen Tinkle. Her father was John Tinkle and her mother was Sarah Browning, they were my 3rd great grandparents according to my research. Their daughter Aplha Tinkle was married to Daniel D. Johnson who was the father of my great grandpa Robert Alexander Johnson Sr., who was the father of my grandpa Robert Alexander Johnson Jr. I have been researching Lucy and I came across your mem. page for her. I have also seen the 1880 census where she is living with her husband Thomas and I think the 1st 2 kids are his from his 1st wife and then the next 2 kids are he and Lucy's together and then there is a C.L. Jones listed as Thomas's stepson so I assume this is the son she had with her 1st husband William J. Jones you mention on her memorial page. All these pieces seem to fit correctly. Then I found an Application for a Widows Pension that Lucy filed for on her husband Thomas and one of the pages in this doc. says that Thomas was her 1st husband and he died in 1916 and then she married a James William Jones in 1924 and after he died is when she took back the name of McCarson and applied for widows pension on her 1st husband. So this info doesn't fit with Charley L. Jones being born in 1871, does it? I also found a marriage doc. that shows a possible marriage to a Wm J. Jones in 1869 but the column with the persons name and signature who solemnized (performed) the ceremony is not filled out so that's seems weird but the dates fit with your info because the CL Jones in the 1880 census was 9 years old so he was born about 1871. I found these docs on ancestry.com which is where I have my trees and do most of my research. So do you think that her memory was confused when she filled out (or had someone else fill them out for her)these widows pension docs.? I also noticed as I have been researching that some of the military info she lists in the widows pension appl. doesn't match some military info I found on ancestry and also on 1 of the pages of the appl. as well. so maybe her memory was just mixed up and he was her 1st husband not her 2nd? I would appreciate any help you can offer? I look forward to hearing back from you. Thanks, Tootz
Josie Johnson Lane What can you tell me about Josie Johnson Lane who's buried at Eastview Memorial Park in Vernon, Wilbarger County, TX. She was married to my paternal great grandfather, Claud C. Lane.
Do you know if he's buried beside her? Do you have a picture of her gravestone?
David, I have no idea a to where this cemetery is. I live in Ks. It was already on Find A Grave and I believe that this was the cemetery that Zeda's son gave me. However he has died and I can't verify it. Thanks. Florence
Salome Alonzo Bland Hello David, I am a descendant of Lucy Ellen Bland, sister of Alonzo Bland. Lucy E. Bland married James Jesse Grimes; their daughter, Annie Laura Grimes married Robert S. Hicks. Their daughter, Hattie Pearl Hicks (my grandmother) married Ernesto Vasquez Ashworth (my grandfather). Their son, Billy Austin Ashworth, Sr. (my father) married Nora Anne O'Drain (my mother). My wife, Lois and I have been married for 42 years and worked on genealogy almost as long. We have never been able to document Alonzo Bland's first given name as Salome, even though many other researchers indicate his full name to be Salome Alonzo Bland. Could you share with us how you learned his first given name to be "Salome"? Do you have access to a family Bible or letters or something else that might prove his first given name. We are very much interested. Thank you for helping us learn more about our ancestors.
