Bio and Links
Bio Photo A ninth generation American, I've always found cemeteries interesting, peaceful and relaxing. Please notify me if I've made a mistake on any memorials I post. No one is perfect, least of all me. I will not respond to rude and disrespectful demands. I am a Find a Grave volunteer because I enjoy visiting cemeteries recording the history of those who have gone before us so as to be of a benefit of those who cannot visit the cemeteries in person to pay their respects. Be nice.

"Remember man, as you walk by,
as you are now, so once was I.
As I am now, so shall you be,
remember this and follow me."

Have a great day!

I'm sorry for this, but I'm new here and maybe don't understand yet.
I just found this website and sent the information for his kids because they were not listed.
Maybe they should not be listed as this in not a family tree site.
You have much more experience here than I do, so I'll leave it up to you.
Should the kids be listed or not?

Thanks and sorry for the confusion.
Bob

Hello Ronald,
My pleasure! I'll keep my eyes peeled for your gr-grandmother's headstone when I visit Green Mount Cemetery-I usually try to find/photograph the entries I've made that were found via records rather than 'on foot'.
Funny aside: I visited your contributor profile and saw the quote you have there. It's very close to a headstone inscription I found a few months ago recorded in a book which I then submitted to that individual's memorial page. It's my absolute favorite inscription. Memorial #28796106, Morris Mattson (1716-1776)
'Remember man as you pass by;
As you are now so once was I;
As I am now so you must be;
Therefore think on Eternity.'

Yep..that about sums it up!
Take care,
Melissa :)

Family Tree
You are welcome to look on our family tree. It is listed as The Garland McCombs Family Tree. We only have done a straight line. We have not added cousins. Chuck

RE: Mary Roberson Cooper
yes, I do have an ancestry.com account. It's a public tree... Ray/Crawford Erwin, Tennessee. Do you have a tree as well? I'd love to feel certain and have sources for the Roberson line!

RE: Mary Roberson Cooper
Thank you!! Thomas Cooper's younger sister, Martha Ella Cooper was my great grandmother. (She married C.C. Adkins) I am trying to follow the trail backwards and had Roberson as Mary "Polly" Cooper's maiden name, but am trying to track down all sources. So while I'm asking....do you by any chance know who her (Mary "Polly" Roberson) parents were? Again, I have a name (Julius Roberson), but no definite proof.
Thanks!!
Lynne

RE: Mary "Polly" Roberson Cooper
Ronald,
Sorry to write again...I just realized that I had written you originally to ask what your source was for Mary "Polly" Cooper's name being Roberson. I am still wondering that. Her grave just says Polly Cooper. And the census' that I have on record, were after she was married. I'm just trying to figure out how you (or whoever) knew she was a Roberson before marriage.
Thanks for any assistance!

Find a Grave memorial # is 51522747.
I found her grave back earlier in the year. It is at a Bennett cemetery that is behind a church there at Poplar, NC....but NOT the Bennett cemetery that has the sign that is pictured on the memorial site. There are 2 Bennett cemeteries. Right off the top of my head, I can't remember the name of the church...but it is right on the main road of Poplar (Hwy 197?) and the cemetery was easily accessible.
Good Luck!

RE: William Hadfield
Ron,
Glad you could use the info. What was the name of the wife of William Hadfield (1829-1913)?
