Hindman in Oakland cemetery
Hello Judith,
Are you still active here? I noticed that back in 2008 you created four memorial pages for Hindman family, but none of those four are buried in Oakland cemetery in Carbondale. Just wanted to let you know (I know Loretta is definitely buried elsewhere) so you could take a look at your sources and delete/edit these as necessary. I am also sending you an email edit through the memorials, but wanted to make sure you received it, since I'm not sure you are still active. Thanks

Calvin Grapes: Lucas Chapel Cemetery
Judith, I found George Grapes (Memorial# 29041526
) in the Lucas Chapel Cemetery. From the picture you took, his brother Edward (#29041568) is on the same stone. Again from the picture you can see "Calv.." on the side of the stone. I'm am pretty sure that that must be their father Calvin, but Calvin Grapes is not indexed. Do you have any further information on Calvin? Do you by any chance know if there is anything on the other 2 sides of the stone? Their mother Mary (28962132) is indexed and there is a picture of her stone taken by someone else, but it is a stone unto itself. I didn't know how close you were to Lucas Chapel Cemetery or if you had further records for there. Thanks in advance.

William Hamil
He is buried with his wife Winnie Cecil Deck Hamil in Lucas Chapel Cemetery and his date of birth is given as 1856. The picture is so small I cannot see what it says but my records say his birth was 1886.

Can you please verify the birth date for me. Thank you very much.

Mary A. Critz Sheley
Judith, first of all thank you for listing this person and taking a photo of her gravestone, as I live in another state and it is quite a jaunt to get there to do it myself. Just thought you would like to know that "Sheley" was not her maiden name, but rather the name she took when she married Jasper Sheley, her second husband, on 6 Dec. 1894 in Logan County. Peter was her first husband, and father of her children. I assume the tombstone was already there, so when she passed, the children opted to bury her next to their father. She married Peter 21 Feb 1867 in Logan County, and her maiden name, according to the marriage license, was Hamil.
