After my father passed away in 2004, I found a passion for researching our family history. Its been the most enjoyable experience of my life. I love meeting new cousins online and sharing information. I am always willing to share any and all information I have gathered.|
My fathers parents were both from Hancock County, Illinois, as well as each and every one of my direct lines for four more generations. I have spent a lot of time researching the people of that area.
I would like to express gratitude and love to those of you who have taken your precious time, money, and energy to take photos in the graveyards and those who post pics and info for others to view. What wonderful service you have provided for others.
Please keep in mind that my family tree work is subject to mistakes (some say it's the human in me). My feelings will not be hurt if you send me corrections. I'll always take the time to validate the info and I'll appreciate you for the time it takes to send corrections.
I always ask permissions to copy photos from findagrave. I will never use these photos for financial benefit. I consider myself ethical and mindful of others. I am forever grateful for the work others put in. I too, hope I can be of help to others.
Remember: OCD is a gift if used wisely.

|Mary Braneff||RE: Children of James and Amy Carter|
I AM NOW WORKING ON A DIFFERENT BUNCH OF CARTERS. THEY GO FURTHER BACK .YOU CAN GOOGLE CARTER HOUSE IN FRANKLIN , TENN. WHERE FOUNTAIN BRANCH CARTER HAD A LARGE HOUSE THAT IS STILL STANDING AND IS A TOURIST ATTRACTION BECAUSE ONE OF THE BLOODIEST BATTLES OF THE CIVIL WAR WAS FOUGHT. FOUNTAIN BRANCH CARTER HAD A SON NAMED THEODRICK CARTER CALLED TOD WHO HAD BEEN A PRISONEER OF THE ENEMY AND WAS A CAPTAIN IN THE FRANKLIN CSA. HE ESCAPED AND WAS RIDING HIS HORSE HOME. THERE WAS A HUGE BATTLE GOING ON HIS HOMES FRONT ( ONE OF THE BLOODIEST OF THE WAR) HIS FATHER, SISTERS AND NEIGHBORS WERE HIDING OUT IN THE BASEMENT AS HE WAS ON HIS WAY HOME.THE NEXT MORNING WHEN THE FAMILY WENT OUT TO SEE HOW MANY BODIES THERE WAS, SADLY THEY FOUND TOD SERIOULY WOUNDED. THEY TOOK HIM INSIDE TO CARE FOR HIM BUT HE DIED THAT NIGHT. MY DAUGHTER VISITED THE HOUSE NOT KNOWING ITS' HISTORY OR HER KINSHIP TO THE FORMER OWNERS. I WOULD LOVE TO GO THERE BUT WE USED TO TRAVEL ALL OVER THE USA AND OVERSEAS BUT OUR HEALTH IS NOT TOO GOOD NOW.

Back to Theodorick Carter,
. There are about 8 to 10 men with that name and all are related but are not the children of James and Amy Carter. Their children are " Jesse, my 3rd. Great Grandfather born 1800 in Pittsylvana,Mary Carter 6/9/1803 in Halifax Co. Virginia. Married Joshua Johnson . Susannah born 11/01/1805 Pittsylvania Co.VA. Judith B. 1808 in Tenn.Died in Texas. John M. 1810 in Pittsylvania. Died 1838 Alabama.Joseph Motley Carter 1810-VA Died 1885 Alabama.Anne Carter 1814- 1840 Virginia . Prudence 1816 VA. Died 1855 in Alabama. Amy's mother was murdered by British Tories when Amy Carter and her sisters were small. There was a John Carter born 8/26/1737 born in Prince Edward Co.VA. and died 1781 in Halifax Co.VA. He was the son of Theodrick Carter, Jr. and Anne Waddill. HE WAS NOT THE Child OF Amy AND JaMES. Possibly HE had a connection to James father Jesse.There are dozens of Carter men named Theodorick and Theodrick. Hope this helps you some.These are my ancestors. Mary Braneff

Sue I do not find a James Theodorick Carter. I have a Theodorick Carter, Sr. 1671 Charles City , VA died 1737 in Henrico VA. He has a Theodorick, Jr. Amy Carter was the daughter of Capt. Joseph Motley and Martha Ellinton. Amy and her sisters witnessed the murder of their mother by the British Tories. Amy was my 3rd. great grandmother and James Carter her spouse was my 3rd. great grandfather. Their son Jesse was the founder of my family and my 2nd. great grandfather. The first Carters landed in Virginia and stayed there until Jesse's son John Harmon Carter and family came to Texas in the early 1800's in an Oxen driven wagons. I traced my Carter family back to my 21st
great grandfather !

|Roslyn Roisman-Patchi||RE: LANDON family|
Thanks for your kind words! I am glad I am able to help families connect the dots! (I am unrelated to the Landons surprisingly...I have a cousin who married into the Landon family though)

I am not related. You may use the picture but (if you click on the picture) as the caption states I got it from this source, which you should acknowledge in a credit if you use it:
Curtiss-Wedge, F.; Jones, Geo. O. (ed.) / "History of Dunn County, Wisconsin" (1925) page 597
That is also the source of the biographical sketch copied on his memorial. You can read it for yourself and perhaps find other ancestors at this site:

Hi - thanks for getting back with me. I've not added a memorial for her since we don't know exactly where she's buried... so I just thought maybe we could at least note her as being a child in this family even without the other particulars. - Bob
