I am a descendant of John Townsend and Elizabeth Pococke who came to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, from Bucklebury, Berkshire, England in approximately 1712. His brother Richard Townsend came with William Penn on the Welcome Ship in 1682 to help establish a Quaker community in America. I live in Montrose, Colorado and am a trustee on the Board of Directors of the Townsend Society of America.
