|I've always had in interest in "where did I come from" since about the age of 12. I grew up in Goshen yet, when I asked my teachers how to go about tracing my roots, none ever mentioned the existence of the Orange County Genealogical Society. My interest in genealogy was re-fueled when I was given the 1850 bible of my husband's great-grandparents. His 3rd great grandfather is buried in what used to be a family cemetery that is now in someone's back yard just up the road from my home.|
I tend to wander cemeteries while looking for the various lines I work on, and am now snapping up photos here and there and posting them on find a grave.
Anytime I look at obituaries, I look at every one that is listed on the page. I then will add those individuals to find a grave if they are not listed. My most recent ones come from the now defunct Newburgh Evening News. Since there is no copy and paste feature, I re-type the info to find a grave. Please let me know if there are typos I need to fix.

It's still sideways when I see it. Weird! Don't you love technology? :P By the way. I asked Trish to take off the photo of Harriett's stone.

Thank you for looking into it. The photo of Lester's stone came out sideways, though. Can you try again? Thanks!!

I am trying to find James Florance's grave as well as his wife Margaret. I see you have it here, but I cannot find it in the cemetery mentioned. I have been there numerous times and the graves are not where the records say they should be. Is there anyway you could advise me as to where exactly James Florance's grave is? It is the last one that I need for a DAR application.
Thanks so much!!
Cheryl Florance Niedzwiecki
I haven't spoken with Barbara but I have talked with her daughter and have a copy of the family tree they have put together. I haven't mentioned the spelling of the name issue with Louise but I will do that. Thanks so much.

Hi Kathy, I need your help if you don't mind. I have a Benjamin (Greggory or Gregory) Vanduzer who died at 14 yrs and I am trying to determine the correct spelling of his middle name which was also his mothers maiden name. His parents were Benjamin Vanduzer and Hannah (Greggory or Gregory). The parents and a brother are buried at Pleasant Hill in Mountainville but I don't know where young Benjamin is buried. He might be at Pleasant Hill and doesn't have a stone or just hasn't been added, I just don't know. If you will please see if you can find anything that might shine a light on this.
Thanks so much,

Kathy. I noticed you created a memorial on April 22, 2011 #68744357 for Isaac Van Duzer my 5th g-grandfather. I also noticed that someone else created a memorial for him with the spelling Isaac (Van Duzor) which is the spelling on his headstone on May 12, 2009 #37017483. I thought you might want to know so there won't be duplicates. If you delete the memorial you created would you please first put the photo you took of his older stone on the other memorial #37017483.Thant name was spelled so many different ways & I am sure it was the spelling that caused duplicates.

I saw the tombstone of "Brock" from Orange County in New York. I've been researching the Brocks for my grandmother who was born Marion Brock. She was raised by her aunt and always wondered about her mother (the aunt was the half sister of her mother). Well, my grandmother is 93 (alive), and I just can't seem to find the grave of her mother. Your photo is of a "Brock" but I can't read the name. It doesn't look like Katherine Brock, but if you know the name, could you post it? There were a bunch of Brocks that lived there. Thanks so much!-Melissa
