I am a native of Southern California but spent ten years living in the northern part of Georgia between 1990 and 2000. Unlike the West Coast, many small unkept graveyards lay right alongside the highways and roads. I was taken back by this and found myself curios about them and, much to my surprise, I found a gravestone displaying my maiden name. That was the very beginning of my quest to find out more about my family heritage. I have been involved in genealogy ever since 1991 and cannot quit. I have researched my family of Runyan's, Lutz's, Alvis' and my husband's family of Mercer's. I just recently (2009) became involved with FindaGrave and have added another layer of involvement in genealogy.
