Bio

Hello, I am Diana(Smith)Brown. I started researching my family history and genealogy about three years ago for the purpose of having information for a family reunion I was planning. I am the next to youngest of my siblings and unfortunately my grandparents and many of my aunts and uncles on the Smith side of the family passed on before I was born or when I was very young.

Also, on the Pettit side, my great grandfather and great grandmother died young and my grandfather Dewey Alexander Pettit was placed in Oddfellows Orphange in Pennsylvania as a young boy. My grandmother Pettit (Edna Lucille Dyer) was adopted and estranged from her siblings. Therefore, my mother had very little knowledge or ties with her aunts and uncles or grandparents. Thus I had even less information and considerably less photos.

Consequently a void and an intense interest survives. Although I admit it has been quite frustrating at times trying to find all "the pieces to the puzzle" has become a huge and compelling passion of mine.

I understand those of you who are searching for those missing pieces and I hope that my contributions to this site will be "the one" that connects the others together for you.

I wish you well on your hunt, and thank you sincerely for your effort at remembering and honoring all who have gone before us.Please let me know if I can help in any way.

The family lines I am researching are Smith(WV), Pettit(OH),Dyer(OH),Cox(WV),Webb(WV),Beall(WV)and many more.
