Bio

I Became hugely interested in my family history during the late 1970s but was unable to begin my search until about 1994 when I bought my first computer (it's capacity was 250 Megabytes and my son said "Mom, you'll never fill it up.") Anyway the 1970s date marks the discovery of my maternal great grandfather's civil war journal along with his copy of the published regimental history of the 72nd Indiana Volunteer Infantry into which he "inlisted in the United States service the 24th of July 1862 to serve three years if not sooner discharged. . . at Thorntown, Boone County, Ind. . ." Some personnel (he was one of them) of that regiment became a part of Wilder's Brigade and went on to their own fame at places such as Chickamauga, etc. He was born a HALL, John Glasgow Hall by name, 6' 2' and blue eyed per his discharge (which was signed by his first cousin CHESTER THOMSON). His wife was LUCY ANNETTE NEAL, daughter of Stephen B. Neal author of the 14th amendment to the U.S. Constitution. John Glasgow's antecedents include the surnames of THOMSON/THOMPSON; McCONAUGHY; and HALL (of course!) Those of his wife are NEAL; ATKINSON; COSHOW; CRADDOCK; HENDRICKS..... Going forward in time through other direct lines we have: BLANCHARD, LEWIS; LANPHERE; STANTON; KENYON; REMINGTON; et al (all of Colonial Rhode Island). Throw in a few Scots, like the WISHARD's and the HENRY's and their ilk and there you have it. Oh, and don't forget the VAN TASSEL's of New Amsterdam (nka New York) and you have, finally, me, Roxana "BLANCHARD" TEA.
