Bio Photo My name is Karen West Sanchez. I live in Briartown, Oklahoma. Genealogy and cemetery surveying have been a passion of mine for many years. My interest in genealogy was inherited from my dear Aunt Lucy West who passed away 2/22/05 at the age of 100 years, 6 months and 3 weeks. I do this in honor of her memory.

If I have prepared a memorial for your family member and you would like it transferred to you, please use the Suggest a Correction link located by clicking the Edit tab in the upper right hand corner of each memorial. In your message, please state your relationship to the deceased. I will usually transfer distant family members, friends and totally unrelated people if you have something to contribute which I have not done already. I will not transfer to organizations. Also, if you find any errors I have made, please use the Suggest a Correction link. I appreciate people helping me fix my errors. Also please send any additional information you have (including family links) and I will add it to the memorial. If you don't hear back from me within 2 weeks, please feel free to ask again.

ID Military in Westlawn-Hillcrest
We are currently working to identify anyone buried in Westlawn-Hillcrest Cemetery Omaha NE that has served in the military. If you have a loved one buried there or know of someone, please send us a message. We place flags on the graves for Memorial Day. This project is sponsored by Centennial Masonic Lodge #326.

If you can send us the names, we will be sure to include them on our list to get a flag.

Thank you for the help with this ongoing project.

If you have already received this message, please accept our apologies for the duplicate message.

RE: Thomas G. Pierce
You didn't do a memorial for him. But you did one for the Wilkersons. And Thomas Pierce is listed as living with them on the 1900 census. I was just wondering if you were related to the Wilkersons in some way.

Thomas G. Pierce
Hi,
There is a Thomas G. Pierce listed as living with the Wilkersons on the 1900 census. Do you know anything about him? I believe that he is my great great great grandfather. Thanks!

RE: Chulio/Cherry Tree
Barely. There is one of those highway signs they have in OK, which points out that there is a cemetery that way > . I think it might be about a quarter of a mile W off of 59.

RE: Chulio/Cherry Tree
Thank you for your reply. I think we can get it fixed. I'm willing. Let's all just sit a bit. In the meanwhile...

I will send a message to Find A Grave and find out what we need to do to get a "merge" done. That way everyone's info they have entered, hopefully should be able to be preserved.

I should have went to the library first, but I was out driving back from a trip to Texas and I cut off on 59N, and saw this cemetery and stopped and took a bunch of pictures. There is no Chulio in the book, I found out of course, later, only Cherry Tree. I am told there are many, many cemeteries that are duplicated, so I think that this is something they need to work on from their end. I think it has something to do with the fact that Cherry Tree doesn't really tell a person where the cemetery is located at. Chulio is the name of that little community there, so presumably people might recognize that name better? Perhaps, I really don't know how they ended up with two cemeteries with the same people. I look forward to trying to reach a resolution on it.

RE: Chulio/Cherry Tree Cemetery
Well, good morning. Nice to "meet" you.

I had nothing to do with the naming of the cemeteries. Whomever first put something in on Find A Grave either selected a cemetery that was extant, or had to create a new one. I don't know that I appreciate your accusatory tone, either, first thing in the morning. I didn't see those people listed in Chulio, after I took pictures, which I took a lot of, by the way, so I added them. At the time I took the photos, I had not been to the library yet to look at Tyner's books to see what it had.
My guess is that 40 years ago, most people called it Cherry Tree and that is how they listed it in the book. Someone on Find A Grave came along and called it Chulio, it would appear. Maybe we need to ream them out.

I have problems with people taking such "ownership" on here, and I'm guessing 90% of the people I send SACs to, ignore them. I have over 600 pending now, so I don't care to hear about making requests to people to change things. They typically don't want to.
All that being said, and not taking into account that what Find A Grave needs to do, IMO, is to merge the two cemeteries into one (and who would agree on a name) I guess I would consider a fix from the contributor's end. What specifically did you want me to do, and are you going to put any additional information that exists on "mine" over onto "yours?" I have plot numbers, additional information I have added, recognition for military veterans and so on. Am I to let all that fall away now because you would prefer they be listed in Cherry Tree? Have you sent similar messages to all the other people who have posted memorials in Chulio, so they can be under the same directive?

I'm willing to try to negotiate a solution.

RE: Correction for Pamela Sherwood
To be honest, I am not 100% sure if the day is 16 or 17.

Thanks for questioning the date. I would go with the other edit that was sent.

Thank you,
Vicky
