9th Marines, 3rd Marine Division, WWII

My grandfather was a 60mm mortar man in the 9th Marine Regiment during WWII and saw action on Bougainville, Guam, and Iwo Jima. He was also actively involved in the reunions up until his passing. In honor of his memory and those who served with him, I am on a personal quest to add pictures, obituaries, or other information to Find A Grave pages for WWII 9th Marines. This is in the hope that these brave souls are remembered not only by a name, but also for the individuals that they were.

I began researching our family trees in 2006, and have enjoyed learning more about where we came from and who we are.

Family names include: Soelberg, Lockhart, Scherl, Olenych, Griggs, Grubb, Miller, Roseman, Haney, Fitch, Rezek, Horyak, Featherstone, Mooney, Pollak, Lukavitch.

In my spare time I have photographed memorials for others. If I have posted memorials for any of your family members, please let me know, and I'd be happy to transfer them to you.
