Bio Photo Hello.

My name is Lisa, and I have been transcribing and photographing cemeteries for about 14 years now. Thanks to a Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness volunteer, I found this site. Finally! A place to put my work.

I record cemeteries to help preserve a record of our long, lost loved ones. At a cemetery, years ago, I noticed that several of the 'older' stones would soon be unreadable. I thought that it would be sad if at some point, that person couldn't be found when a genealogist came looking for them.

I don't think that they should be forgotten. I enjoy knowing that I can help someone locate that special 'someone' that they have been looking for. Or, to help them see their loved one's final resting place.

I am only human, and I make my fair share of mistakes. So, if you find an error, please email me, and I will do my best to correct it.

If you have information that you think needs to be added to a memorial, or if it needs to be updated, I will do my best to help out. I will not be bothered in the slightest if you want to add photos to the memorial.

Happy Hunting!

{{{I RECORD ALL THE STONES IN A CEMETERY. THERE ARE STONE MARKERS THAT HAVE LIVING PEOPLE ON THEM. SUCH AS: ONLY ONE SPOUSE HAS PASSED AWAY OR SOMEONE PURCHASED THE STONE IN ADVANCE, ALONG WITH THEIR PLOT.

IF THERE IS NOT A DEATH DATE, THERE ARE MANY EXPLANATIONS:

* THEY ARE NOT DECEASED
* THE DEATH DATE WAS NOT PUT ON THE STONE AFTER THEY PASSED
* THEY REMARRIED AND WERE NOT BURIED WITH THIS PARTICULAR SPOUSE
* THEY MOVED AND WERE BURIED ELSEWHERE
* THEY PASSED AWAY WITH NO LIVING RELATIVES OR FRIENDS TO PASS ON THEIR BURIAL WISHES

AND MANY MORE.}}}

Just a note to let you know I have added the cemetery information to the pages for Valeria and Roderic. There was no info in the file for Myra, as she died in 1992, and the file was microfilmed in the 1980's.

RE: Carroll Thomas
Lisa, I have a cousin that is on the cemetery board at Union Grove and she has confirmed for me that Union Grove was also known as Parker and Buff cemeteries in the past. I think this is because Lot and Anna Parker donated the land that the cemetery is located on. Lot and Anna cared for a mentally challenged man named George Buff but I do not know the family connection to them. Many death certificates that I have seen where my grandfather, Shelt Collins, was acting undertaker has Buff Cemetery as burial place and the deceased is buried at Union Grove.
I added the Pendelton memorial some time back and have since learned from a lady that belongs to a historical society that flour works wonders on reading these old stones and will not harm the stone. Next time I am back out that way I will use this method to get more information from the stone. Best regards, Kathy

Carroll Thomas
Hi Lisa, I seen you were related to Carroll Thomas and seen in his bio that he was married to a Pendelton. I was wondering if you could shed any light on the Pendelton boy also buried at Union Grove, memorial 127213857. His is a old stone that is hard to read. Kathy

RE: Headstone on Find a Grave #34056109
Hi Lisa-

Did you ever get a change to look at the grave sit of M. A Carroll?

I received a email from Jane Rousseau has left a new message for you on your Find A Grave Contributor Page. But there was no message left. It was in regards to that headstone.

I contacted the owner of the page he said that is not the right headstone for Harriett Noland Carroll. Dates are different..

Thank you for your time
Diane

Carl Wake
Hi, At this time there is not a grave marker on the grave of Carl Wake. We have sent an edit to the owner of the memorial to add the Plot information. We will check each time we are at the cemetery to see if a headstone is added. Thanks, Bill & Sheila

Do you have any additional information about Lizzie Briggs other than what is on her memorial. I know she was living in Burdine in 1910. My family has been searching for Lizzie for 50 years. Thank you.

RE: Riley infant at Ledbetter Cemetery
I would leave them because of the death certificate saying they are there, you are correct that someone else would add them. I have made a note on the ones at Union Grove. Kathy

RE: Riley infant at Ledbetter Cemetery
Lisa, I didn't realize at the time I sent you the info about the other twin that I had created a memorial for them at Union Grove some time ago as they have a stone there. I have made note on my memorial that the stone at Union Grove is probably a cenotaph as their death certificates state that they are at Ledbetter, also the stone at Union Grove has wrong year of death and birth. I guess it is possible that there was a removal to Union Grove at some time.
I was looking at some memorials at Union Grove last night and noticed that you had made a note on one of yours that the death certificate of that person said they were at Buff Cemetery. Union Grove was known as Buff Cemetery as well as Parker Cemetery so that is the right cemetery. I have seen more than one death certificate that my grandpa, Shelt Collins, acted as undertaker and most of his say Buff Cemetery instead of Union Grove.
Take Care,
Kathy
