|Marcie||Mariah Gorman Dowdy|
A rose posted on her webpage brought me to your name. My relatives, Amon Dowdy and Mariah Dowdy (1918) are a bit of a mystery to our family. There is much information on Amon and the children, but nothing on Mariah. Since you are in Clay County, have you run across any information that might help us trace Mariah Gorman Dowdy?
A bevy of Dowdy relatives would be greatly appreciative!
Great great granddaughter

Hi Paul First THANK YOU for your research. I have to correct you on Pauline Tyree # 42334750 birth date 5/30/1921 death date 4/2/1984 you have 1982. Pauline is my grandmother. Thanks Again!

Paul, I walked Clearview Cemetery with the owner (my neighbor), and the records don't show Victoria buried anywhere. Based upon your notes, I took a wide photo of Frank & Flora Acree's plot, so you could see there's no headstone nearby. I don't know if that's proper, however, it may help with closure. Pell Cemetery is difficult to get to, and I don't think she's buried with her parents.

Paul, Just established a memorial and posted a photo for his parents: Richard Umpleby (#128583132) and Margaret Jane Allen Umpleby (#128583256). Thought you'd like to link them. Have a good day, and keep searching.

Hi! I'm researching my husband's family. His gr grandmother was Margaret McKillop Knox, wife of Robert S.Knox. I was wondering if your line of Daniel McKillop's are cousins or distance relatives of my husband's . Please let me know if you have any info on a reltionship. I just found out tonight that Margaret's parents were James Sr. & Mary Wyper McKillop.
|Michael Barksdale||RE: Amos C. Williams|
I'm glad the information on Amos's service in the Civil War was acceptable to you to add to his memorial. I am not a direct descendent of Amos but I believe he is in someway related. In the 1850 census he and Isaac Williams his brother are listed under my gt gt gt grandfather Alfred West. Alfred's son George W. West was married to Martha Ann Williams by gt gt grandmother. I believe they may have been younger brothers of Martha Williams. At some point Amos and Isaac went along with George and Martha and their children to McLean county, IL., where George and Martha lived for 13 years, prior to returning to Clay County, IN. Isaac remained in McLean county where he died after also serving in the Civil War in an Illinois Regt. Amos also returned to Indiana, date unknown, and his grave and the memorial you created are in Indiana. Thanks again for creating this memorial and maintaining it.
All the Best....Mike
