|Sheila Stepko||Claus Ewoldsen|
Would you be willing to email a high resolution copy of Claus and Jemima's photo? Claus's brother, Martin, is my gg-grandfather. I would like to add this photo to my Ewoldsen collection and share it at the next family reunion. Thanks!
Hi I wanted to know how you know the Cusick Family? Mary Moore Cusick Root is my third great grandmother.
|Kathy McCreary||Ross Wayment|
Ross's grandmother Ellen Stevenson was my grandfathers sister.
|Dwight Phillips||New York was British Colony not USA|
There are a number of posting for the especially for the WOERTMAN (Workman)family that list New York as Brooklyn, Kings, New York, USA for postings in the 17th and early 18th century. However the United States was not created until after the Revolutionary War and Articles of Confederation (1784) and the US Constitution (1787) and NY and especially the area around what we know today as NY City was under British control. In fact Washington’s army was defeated and forced out of NY in 1776 and forced out of NY through NJ and remained a stalemate between Philadelphia and NY until the battle at Yorktown in in 1781 in VA. Therefore any posting prior to 1781 should refer to Brooklyn, Kings, and New York as a British Colony not as New York, USA.

|D.J. Baker||Smith-Demont burials|
Thankyou for the change in these postings at Higbee. There are several local connections between these two families, Richard Demont who -m- Mary Sasson, is listed several places, also have a probate file for one "Richard Demont and a file where he is named guiradin for children: Henry Smith, James Williard Smith, Jonathan Smith and Loretta (?Luretta Helen) H. Smith dated 1849...do you have these files? If you would please e-mail me privately I could get these to oyou or let you know where the orrig papers are...Daundra
|Sunflower Lady||RE: Jeremiah Smith|
Thank you. He sounds like a great connection. It is true. Too many times we just copy off someone elses guess to be fact. Keep me posted on this in case something developes.
|D.J. Baker||RE: Jereimah Smith|
Don't know why my reply posted twice. But I did not add Jeremiah Smith to this cem. I did enter Higbee Cem, I have tried to put the history of the Cem and a map of the burials, but cant figure out how to do that after the fact. Will send you a link to the recording that is on another site...PS will get back to you real soon...DJB
|D.J. Baker||RE: Jereimah Smith|
I will get back to you in a couple days. I am not a relative but have done research on this issue for others, and I will be happy to send you what I have. I have found information, here in Berrien, you may be very interested in, on both families, in.
If this information on the DeMont and Smith burials are "oral family tradition", please be kind enough to state this as so, on Find A Grave. Keep in mind, even if you think the paper trail has ended, not all researchers have the facts and they may be passing on the "oral traditions". Sad to say these traditions are not always FACT....D.J.
