08-09: At the same time my adult children left home, I lost my parents within 11 months of each other. Upon going through their belongings, the family found a treasure trove of old, old photos, some identified and others not. That single experience led me on my quest to find my family's story. I travel a great deal to ancestral "homes" and get photos of stones in various cemeteries across the states. I have them on my computer and hope that if anyone else is looking for a name/date/cemetery/, sharing my found information may be of some assistance as they look for the details of their personal story. My nest is emptied, my parents gone and my life has been revived by my passion for genealogy. Carpe Diem!

2011: Looking for Pennsylvania/MA/VT/RI/NY family names of Parkin, Stafford, Skiff, Brooks, Smith, Parker, Howe, Gore, Hicks, Mathewson, May, Ballou, Williams, Lanning, Barger and more.
2012: My searches have pretty much ended for now regarding my own family members. Please let me know if you want me to transfer any family members to your site.
2014: We have created a Face Book page to link all living Skiff members together again. Half of that family migrated west to mine and survey newly developing lands in the late 1800s. We also have a page for Parkin or Scott from Lewiston, Maine and Cannelton, Indiana, miners and mill workers. And one more page for Laning/Barger/Blower family members from Pennsylvania, New York, Wales, Palentine Germans, etc. and would love to find those family members who migrated west in the early 1900s. Please leave me a message on this site and I will contact you. Excited for the future of our ancestors on both Facebook and Find A Grave.
2015: I am thrilled that Ancestry.com has included FIND A GRAVE. I continue to edit photo entries as requests come in by email. I apologize that I am just seeing the edit tab on my home page. I will respond to those requests today. This year I have started working on my husband's family as well as several of my high school classmates' trees. I find many of my classmates' families came to the NW corner of PA because of Donation Land given to Revolutinary War ancestors for their service. Who knew?
2016: This year I am cleaning up my Findagrave files, adding relationships and middle/maiden names as I find them. I am also creating a facebook page for The Loomis Cemetery with as much genealogy information as I can find for each of my future neighbors. I just love tools like Findagrave and Ancestry.com. I can't believe April is just around the corner. So much work, so little time. Chris PG

A PS for 2016...life gave me cancer and some incredible coping skills. My work is taking a back seat for now but I hope to be back in business early 2017.
It's now 2018 and I am living life fully. It's ironic to me how doing genealogy, and especially working on Find A Grave, can give you great insights to the other side of living. I think about things like what my grave stone will say, even if I am cremated because it is one of the few records a soul has for their life. But I am not thinking of having my dash filled in just quite yet. I made it through my cancer and its treatment and have added 10 countries to my list of world travels. It's time to sit down again and work on the new things FAG and Ancestry have added to my trees. I continue to look for ways to impress on the living how important knowing as much history as is possible of those who have come before us. Isn't it lovely to still be able to contribute?
Covid 2020: who could have ever guessed this would happen across the entire globe, including America? We now understand how difficult our ancestors had it if they survived the various pandemics of their life times. We have lost 2 family friends and continue to wear masks for the safety of others. And if there is a less austere side to this pandemic, it is more time at the computer, doing research, adding to trees and updating memorials. FAG even has added some things that I didn't notice, like my 42 messages tab. So sorry if I didn't get back to you. Please resend if you are still thinking I might have info that could help you. The project I am working on right now is memorializing my high school teachers. It is a wonder to me how old my teachers were back then and in some cases, how young. Now they have passed and I just want others to know them the way I did. I grew up in a time where teachers were passionate and underpaid. Appears that not much has changed except now they encounter so many more dangers in just trying to do their jobs well. This profile update hopes that we all do our best to not add any more personal names to our memorials. Stay safe. Stay well. Chris PG
2022: A month has passed of the new year as of this writing. And I am still at it. At the end of last year I came across 7 suitcases filled with new treasures to go through. I found newspaper clippings from 1945 announcing homecomings of military personnel, and of nuclear bombs, 1950s wedding announcements complete with photos of cakes, brides and grooms and names of family members, 1970s sports pictures of old classmates; and I still have 6 suitcases to go through. So you can see what my year will look like. And I am loving it. One's treasures can become another's trash so I am taking the time to post pics of my finds on FAG, sending messages to descendants of these folks on Ancestry and mailings. I believe I will be the one to save our great USPS. I have mailed boxes and envelopes and letters and bibles all for the sake of honoring my sweet parents and grandparents and great grandparents who never threw away a single thing.
