RE: SARDIS CEM. PERRY CO AL
William Holifield/Holyfield was married 3 different times.
1. Dollie Tubbs November 10 1852
2. Marrey Elizabeth Summers November 12 1865
3. Mary Rutherford October 18 1870

So Marrey Elizabeth was a Summers, Mary a Rutherford. His first wife and second wife are buried there in the cemetery with him.

As for his last name, interesting point. His father was a Holifield, his brothers except his youngest half brother were Holifields. The youngest half brtoher added a l - Hollifield (My ggg grandfather). Marrey Elizabeth has two headstones in the cemetery with both spelling variations. On his first wife, it says she was the wife of William Holifield. That is the reason I went with Holifield when I set up the memorial. My husband took the picture for me later. Holifield is spelled Holyfield, Holifield, and as we spell it, Hollifield. There are lots of Holifields buried in Perry County, all with the Holifield version.

Obediah Lowery
You posted some questions awhile back... I do not know who Obediah's father was but now and then I try to find this missing person. I've not found any relationship to Obediah's family and the other Lowery families of Wayne County. If you find any hints please let me know. Did you find the Lowery Cemetery? It's a tiny cemetery behind Lowery Church in Wayne County..out in the country... down a gravel road.... thanks SharronM

Thank you for giving me William's birth date. Would you like for me to transfer his memorial over to you?
