The information submitted is the information that is shown on the headstone, cemetery listing, death record or in the obituary. If I've posted a record that needs to be corrected or updated, please use the "Edit" function to let me know and I'll be glad to correct/add the information.
If the person is your DIRECT family member (according to Find A Grave guidelines), and you would like me to transfer the memorial to you, please let me know. If that person is NOT directly related to me and they are directly related to you, I will be glad to transfer the memorial to you. Please use the "Edit" function and include your Find A Grave member I.D. number.
If you would like to request linking family members, again, please use the "Edit" function to let me know.
If requests are e-mailed directly to me instead of going through Find-A-Grave, there is a good chance it will be deleted without being read if I don't recognize the sender or if there is no reference to Find-A-Grave in the subject.

Anyone wishing to use any photo's I have posted on this sight are more then welcome to do so without having to ask for my permission.
If you have the program to clear them up ?you have my permission to also fix them.

RE: Names researching
Thank you so much for this offer! I have looked through your Gover, Hamblin, Kiefer and Riddle names, and don't recognize anyone as being related (at least not very closely). I appreciate your taking the time to let me know. Judy (frankseyffardt)

Just for your information: Jeffery Patrick at the Wilson's Creek National Park informed me the Missouri State Guard was never an official Confederate Army, so to call them Confederate is a misnomer. And they only lasted as the state militia for two years before they were disbanded. Okay?

Saw you had posted a cemetery picture for this cemetery. Have several relatives buried there. Did you take all tombstone pictures when you were there? Very small cemetery and such old burial dates figured most of the tombstone are probably already gone. Thanks for your time and help, it is greatly appreciated.

John McGowan

Hi Doug,

I'm certain that John and Mary McGowan do not have grave markers in Philos Cemetery, Westernport MD.

John McGowan is listed in the Philos burial book as owner of the 5 grave, Lot 80, Friendship section.

There is one broken marker on that lot listed as Lucy F. McGowan age 13 months in a marker survey done in 2005. When I did a survey in 2012 only the bottom half was present and the top half with the name was missing.

I see in your memorial for Laura McGowan Henry she has a sister Lucilia. Perhaps the Lucy buried in Philos?

It is likely that John and Mary are buried on Lot 80, Friendship section with Lucy. The record shows that they were residents of Piedmont, Mineral County WV, just across the river from Westernport MD. Philos is the local cemetery for both towns.

Just some info that you perhaps might find interesting...John Fazenbaker

thanks Doug for all your time looking up the info on my Grand Dad. I just never have the time to complete any research on family with work and taking care of a disabled Wife. I know the research is time consuming. I also enjoy traversing cemeteries when ever I get a chance I am very interested in history and cemeteries do reveal a lot of history. Again thanks for your time and effort.

Doug, I just wanted to say thank you for all your hard work on our cemeteries. My family is buried in at Macedonia Cemetery under the names Reeves, Koenig and Mainard and soon to be Patton. They are all in one area and thank you for your time and your service. Since it is 9/11/15 my thoughts go back to our service personnel and all that lost their lives that day. Again I want to say Thank you and someday I will be laid to rest with the rest of my family and I hope someone notes mine as well as you have done my family.
Thank you
