Hello from New Mexico.|
I've been excavating and cataloging pioneer cemeteries for over 30 years. In the 1980s I even published a few works on the subject. Like most of you, I'm also an avid genealogist. While I enjoy finding the graves of famous people, I'm more interested in the common soldier and pioneer. Every one of them has a story.
As for genealogy, I am currently working on the surnames Trine, Minter, Dozier, Shackleford and Marquez. I'm also collecting the names and graves of the Maryland 6th Infantry.
I'm usually "on the road," so my photos come from wherever I happen to be. I've had the pleasure of meeting hundreds of wonderful people who share this love for history. Contact me if I can be of any help to you.
ABOUT TRANSFERS: I am happy to transfer anyone who is not my direct ancestor.

Thank you so much. Thanks for making sure the writing at the bottom of the headstone was readable. Unfortunately, I cannot find records to show me who M Stanard (Richard E's wife, I presume, and the infant's mom) was.
|DAVID CHRISTIAN||RE: George Washington Campbell|

|Anonymous||Julia Ann Veronica Montague Walsh|
Hello, I was wanting to know if you could send me the picture of Julia that is on her find a grave website? She is the wife of Murtha Walsh of Harper's Ferry, WV. Murtha is the brother of our direct ancestor Sarah Ann Walsh. I would like to put the picture of Julia on our ancestry.com page.
Thank you for your consideration.
|Sarah Pullen ||RE: Jane Pullen|
Eddie - I think Jane's name may have been Van Slyke. There are others in the area.
Yes. I am researching Pullens in Michigan they almost all who came to Michigan are interrelated, so any that you may want to transfer just go ahead. If you have any help to offer on the children of either David J Pullen or Joseph T. Pullen it would be most appreciated. Thanks.
|K Wink-Torney||RE: Wink-Minter|
Great hearing from you. Dora & I are cousins of many removes as I guess are we. Let me give you a little background on the Wink's. Home territory primarily Manchester & Hampstead Carroll Co.
My great grandfather was Jacob Wink 1844-1913. Married Annie Josephine Belschner. Jacob was an undertaker in Manchester and two of his sons continued the business into the late 1950's. There is a record of a burial for Alice Minter (child) in 1881 in Jacob's records.
Jacob's father was John Wink 1820-1903 (my 2xg grand father) Married Margaret Rebecca Wilhelm.
John's father was George Wink 1788-1862 (my 3xg grandfather) Married Susannah (Sentz) Zentz.
Joseph Henry Wink,Sr. 1830-1909 (son of George) Married Rachel Minter. Joseph Henry Wink, Jr. 1862-1937 Married Laura Bixler & is father of Dora.
Your archaeological search for Susannah Trine is fascinating. I did note that Emanuel had married a niece of Susannah but not the circumstance.
I would be delighted to see the Wink info you speak of and a photo would be wonderful. You are very generous.
Look to hear from you at firstname.lastname@example.org
Joseph Henry Wink(1830-1909) married Rachel Minter
in 1856. Joseph was the son of George Wink(1788-1862) and Susannah(Susan)Zentz(Sentz)(1799-1890).
Suzannah Minter (Rachel's) sister married Emanuel Trine in 1842. The story goes that there are questions concerning the death of Suzannah and her death has never been recorded. In your research on the Minter's I am curious if you've discovered any information on Joseph Henry (my 3rd great grand uncle) that you would be willing to share. Thanks.
|Robert Abney||RE: David Witt|
PS....I am searching the Witt line for verification that our Ursula Abney, d/o Dannett Abney, married William Witt. Do you have that information?
By the way, Abney was misspelled Abner many times down the line. Dabney on the other hand came to America with that spelling because it was, along with Abney, a corruption of d'Aubigny.
|Robert Abney||RE: David Witt|
Well, The original English spelling was Dannett as a surname. However, When Dannett Abney came to this country indentured in 1679 he name was spelled Dannit. Along the was Dennett entered the picture similar to the way census takers changed names. Our Abney family genealogist always use the surname spelling of Dannett.
