I discovered Find A Grave while researching my family history...and now I'm hooked! There is such a sense of peace and tranquility, especially in the older cemeteries. The history behind the stones is fascinating to me, and I'm happy to be part of preserving that history. |
When photographing a cemetery, I only touch the stone when absolutely necessary, and even then - soft brush and water ONLY! If you use chalk, flour, cornstarch, etc. to "bring out" the writing on the stone, PLEASE STOP! You will damage the stone, whether you realize it now or not. Visit the discussion forums on this site for safe alternative methods.
I started off with memorials for my own family, but have also added memorials from cemeteries I've walked. If you notice any errors, or have information to add to a memorial, please use the "Edit/Suggest a Correction" feature to contact me. If I've entered a memorial for one of your loved ones, friends, etc., please let me know and I will gladly transfer it to you.

|Olson Memories||Regarding Last Message I Just Sent|
Someone just told me a guess of Pennsboro Presbyterian Cemetery, WV for the cemetery in the photo. I know that Absalom Meredith's second wife Emma buried their son Oscar there and also Absalom's second wife Emma buried her second husband there(She is with him there). If I ever go back East I will check if that tall stone is there and if it says Absalom Meredith on it circa 1842-1904 (or 1840).
It has me curious since it looks like there is a ER written in the middle of it.
|Olson Memories||Does this cemetery look familiar?|
I recently have been given the photo that I am using as my profile picture on here. I remember you telling me you had also looked around for Absalom Meredith's grave and could not find it. Since this photo has Absalom's son John Andy Meredith posing in it (from his second wife Emma)in front of a stone with his hat off, I was hoping that could be a lead.I don't live back East, so I was hoping you might recognize the edge of the building in the left of the photo. If you click on the photo it will get bigger to see. I know many have searched for his location of probably WV or Ohio.

Thank you for honoring our heroes by adding your photo! I will keep looking from time to time to see if someone has created memorials for the other brave men. I do not know where they are buried, or I would make sure they had memorials.
God Bless You!
|Little Fir||Photo (Morgan's Raid)|
Several years ago you kindly posted a picture on Isaac Samuel Lang's memorial. It was a photo of the stone that had the names of the men who lost their lives as a result of The Battle of Corydon, Morgan's Raid. I was wondering if you would be able to post the same photo for the others whose names are listed on the stone who have findagrave memorials (some of the men do not have findagrave memorials). Here are the names and memorial numbers of those that do-
Jacob Ferree #78463457
Harrison Steepleton #37085367
Nathan Mckinzie #96018934
Rev. Peter Glenn 13818994
Thank you for considering this.
God Bless You!
