Thanks to all my Find-A-Grave Friends for visiting my parents, grandparents and my lil grandchild. They are surely missed and were loved greatly. My homegoing to meet these wonderful people will make for a HUGE celebration!

Married to Craig Hannah, mother of Miranda Hannah, stepmother of Alisha, Daniel (Bubba), Mark and David Hannah. Bubba, Mark and David were U. S. Marines and all proudly served this great nation of ours. On January 24, 2014, Alisha made me a grandmother with the arrival of Gabriel (G. J.) Perez, Jr. What a joyous occasion! In January 2015, Craig and I traveled to El Paso for G. J.'s first birthday. He's getting so big and absolutely the handsomest little boy around. I'm so glad God saw fit to let me stay on this Earth a little while longer to enjoy my grandson. In November 2015, we got back from a week and a half motorcycle visit to see G. J. and all the Texas young'uns! Yes, I said motorcycle visit to Austin, Texas! I had my doubts as to whether I could do it in two days coming back, but I did! Spending time with G. J. and the kids was wonderful early Thanksgiving and Christmas present rolled into one! Alisha and Gabriel welcomed Scarlett Elizabeth Perez on September 28, 2016. Cute as a button! Another grandchild to love! Welcome to the family Miss Scarlett!

Colorectal Cancer Survivor here! In January 2011 my family's world was turned upside down by the news that I had colorectal cancer. My father died from colon cancer in 1992. He had been diagnosed at 58 so my sisters and I were aware that we would need to start colonoscopies at the age of 48. Ten years from your direct line ancestor is the norm. (My daughter will need to start colonoscopies at 35.) I was 45 when I was diagnosed due to symptoms that I noticed. I had the operation to remove the rectal cancer plus a little over a foot of my colon on March 1st and I started chemotherapy on April 13th. My chemotherapy ended on October 7, 2011 after only two small setbacks. Even though my father had chemo with his cancer, you don't realize Exactly what a person goes through Daily with all the changes to your body that chemo does. God Bless my Daddy! The further along in your chemo regime, the more the chemo attacks other body functions and muscles. As my husband put it, chemo really is just fumigating for any cancer bugs that may be roaming around in your body. At least in my case that was what was happening. Fortunately, I am blessed with an outstanding husband, children and family (my sister, Beth was there every day encouraging me and worrying about me) that were with me helping me complete my chemo journey. Now, over 5 years later, I still deal with day to day issues; however, I am here and I'm getting on with life despite my 2011 journey. In 2015, I'm finally at a point that I feel pretty good which is a blessing in itself. My last scan was May 13, 2016 and they are now going to let me go a year before another scan. Small steps, but good steps in the correct direction! Please, please, get those colonoscopies when they are due at 50. They really aren't as bad as they used to be and you don't want to have to deal with the alternative....take it from someone who has been there!

God Bless Each And Every One Of You! ~Laurie~

Gates Family Cemetery, St. Matthews, SC
Please recheck with the Funeral Home for the Cemetery location for the memorial you provided for Bernard William "Barney" Grau. He is not at the location you chose for his memorial. The Gates Family Cemetery can only be considered a burial ground with only family of "Christian Gates". It has not had any new interments in over 50 yrs. It has almost been destroyed by log trucks clearing it years ago, cleared for crops and now apparently used by hunters. I was there in 2011 and saw the desecration.
If you know anyone connected with cemetery restorations in the SC area that would be helpful so a request could be made.

Your work with Find A Grave is appreciated and I hope you will be able to determine the correct info for Mr. Grau.

Major Lewis Golson
Thanks for posting the excellent summary for Major Golson.

Just wanted to let you know that over 50 Golson descendants have a Golson DNA research project with some amazing findings. (always looking for more Golson's to join).

Happy to share all details via regular email.

One of the findings is that Maj. Lewis Golson did not use the name John. We found his original land grand when he immigrated around 1751. His name is listed as Ludwig Colson. Same plot of land was later sold by Lewis Golson. No mention of the name John.
Request you remove John from his find-a-grave site.

Also, we now know via DNA testing that he had patrilinial Jewish heritage.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Note of Appreciation :
Good morning, Laurie,
Thank-you for your quick and courteous response to my transfer request for the Robert James Rainbolt memorial .... The individual who had the other memorial has also transferred his to my care, so I am in unchartered waters here ....
I will have to figure out how to give you both credit for your assistance ... I did not actually ask for the transfer, just wrote him a note explaining the mixup ....
Again, my deepest and sincere gratitude for your
kindness and generosity,
RAINBOLT Family Historian,

Robert James Rainbolt :
Hi Laurie,
Your memorial is a duplicate of memorial number #
117867313 ..... It was somewhat hard to tell that these memorials were in fact one in the same .... I have only noticed since I am one of the family genealogists .... I was wondering, if I may be so bold, to request a transfer of this memorial to my care ??? I have sent a note to the other memorial manager explaining the dupes / mixups .... NO BIG THING ....
Your memorial has his obit, which the other one does not ...
Thank-you for your assistance in this matter,
as it is genuinely appreciated ....
RAINBOLT Family Historian,
