Researching Horton's, Marshall's and all related families. We live in the Crystal Coast area of North Carolina. Besides genealogy, we are very involved in the US Coast Guard Auxiliary.|
I had FAG transfer all of Becky's memorials to me in 2011 as she has passed away. There were over 20,000 of them so forgive me if I haven't gotten them all updated/corrected. There are many with mistakes. Please let me know if you find one using the EDIT TAB feature and I'll get it corrected. Many of them are off a few days for the death date. If they are buried in Pulaski Co, Va, check out Pulaski County Library System for more complete information and let me know. If you see a memorial that you'd like to manage, just let me know your relationship to that person and I'll transfer it to you. Please use the EDIT TAB to request transfer. Thanks, Becky, for all your hard work.
Tombstones are "More than a Name on a Wall" as sung by The Statler Brothers in the song by the same title.
From Find A Grave's FAQ...
"The ultimate goal should be to have meaningful, accurate memorials that honor those who have passed away, REGARDLESS of who created the memorial or who maintains it."
For all my Marshall family, we now have a Facebook page. See Jacob Marshill for family pics and other genealogy info there. Thanks,

Peter Hylton #113005604 does appear to be a duplicate of Peter Hylton #50121321 but which is correct? Since there are no photos for either one, I think both should remain with the hope that further evidence turns up.

Thanks for telling me. I maintain the virtual cemetery for the class of 1953 and I did not find the first memorial when I searched three days later, the very day that I received his death notice from the USNA Alumni Association, and created mine the same day. I have contacted the first creator for his wishes before I delete mine, which includes Mouse's Lucky Bag (yearbook) photo and other details given me by his cousin, that would require nontrivial duplicate effort to edit and submit for inclusion in the earlier memorial. Thanks again. I met Mouse when we were staying in Bancroft Hall to take our physicals and were sworn in together in Mem Hall under the Perry Lake Erie battle flag, just like the scene in the 1937 Dick Powell movie Shipmates Forever.

I really don't know what to think about where he is actually buried. That is two different churches. I do not know the family, as I am just a Find A Grave member trying to photograph cemeteries. I have no idea when I can get back over that way, but will try and remember to check both cemeteries and see if I can figure something out. His military stone looks fairly new. Maybe a family member will discover this and give us some details.

Thanks! I didn't know as so many are not free. We're helping a youngster with a school assignment, so the less she needs to figure out, the better. Now you have my curiosity about the link! Thanks again!

We're doing research on James Wright and came upon your memorial page. The link to his obitary does not work without a subscrlption. Would it be possible to give us more information? Thanks.

If you are related I will be thrilled to transfer the memorial to you along with the other 5 Marshall memorials.
I also have 5 Valley Memorials you may have.
Please let me know.
Happy Holidays Pat

I wondered about that. Did not seem correct to me. I decided to put it in as written hoping to see a correction from someone that knew for sure or see a corrected obit somewhere.
One would think that the OBIT would be the most correct someone would ever write. But I see obvious mistakes, from time to time, as I am sure you do as well.
So shall I change it? If you think so I will...
Thanks for your comment. -A
|Julie Whiteside Miller||John Harrell Photo request|
Hi... you requested a photo of the grave of a John Harrell in Raeford Cemetery in NC. I confirmed the graves being there with the city hall however, when I went to the cemetery to the lots they told me, the names on stones at those plots were not for John. It was Robert and his wife Hazel Harrell and there were no other stones in that family plot. But city hall says that John is there.
