Bio

I was born Nov. 2, 1934 in Shreveport, Caddo Parish, La., the son of Oliver Oscar Thompson and Emma Lee Bagwell. My father worked in a lumber mill in Shreveport. I graduated from Byrd High School in 1952, received a Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering from La. Tech Univ. in 1956 and a Master's Degree in electrical engineering from Ohio State Univ. in 1960.
I married Bettie Maurine Moore on Aug. 21, 1955. She was born Jan. 13, 1934 in Jonesboro, LA and was the daughter of Lizzie Ola Gilbert and Cleveland Lafayette Moore. She grew up in Jonesboro and graduated from Jonesboro-Hodge High School in 1952. She received a Bachelor's Degree in mathematics education from La. Tech Univ. in 1955 and taught mathematics for sixteen years at Quitman, LA, Fairborn, OH and Wichita, KS.
We had three children, 23 grandchildren and 5 great- grandchildren. Bettie went to be with the Lord on June 23, 2020 in Wichita, KS.
I served in the Air Force for three years as an engineer at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio and received an honorable discharge in 1960. I worked as an engineer with Boeing for 35 years and retired in 1965. All of those years were in Wichita, except for three years in Huntsville, AL, working on the Saturn-Apollo space program.
I am a member of Central Christian Church in Wichita, enjoy genealogy, as a hobby, and am interested in the following family lines: Anders, Bagwell, Bailey, Culpepper, Gentry, Gilbert, McBride, Moore, Tate and Thompson. Bettie and my family trees are on Ancestry.com under the name, "Thompson-Bagwell-Moore-Gilbert."
