I began collecting information about my ancestry after my beloved grandfather, Jessie A. James, passed away in 1972. By this time I was living in Georgia with my Mother and younger sister. I would take my composition notebooks whenever we would visit relatives in Alabama and ask questions and take notes. I'm sure I was a pest!

As an adult I became caught up in the daily requirements of making a living, tending a home and operating under the belief I would live forever with plenty of time after retirement to work on my genealogy. Needless to say, research and documentation were pushed aside as I made my mark on the world. Through the years, these worn and yellowed notebooks sat quietly and waited for me to return to them. In 2003 I picked it up again with a passion to learn as much as I could about my lineage and share this information with anyone who may be interested. So here we stand.

Please be aware that after my demise my sister Jean James Kimball will be the custodian of all my research materials. Otherwise, if circumstances differ, I plan to donate everything to the National Archives here in Georgia. She and I encourage everyone to contact her with new information and current events. Thank you for your help and cooperation in maintaining an accurate and reliable record of our heritage.
