Bio Photo "When ye are in the service of your fellow beings, ye are only in the service of your God."

This is a fun and interesting hobby for me, as well as a great way to perform a meaningful community service to others. Someday I hope to have more free time to devote to it.
In fairness to those who may have closer ties to a memorial, please read the Transfer Guidelines prior to requesting a transfer. I will make exceptions if I am doing photo requests for you. You do not need to "manage" every memorial that is part of your family tree. Remember that this site is for locating burials, not building a tree. There are other websites that are more suitable for that purpose. I will be happy to make any links and corrections. PLEASE use the SAC feature ("Edit" tab). Please do not ask me to do links to any "Burial Unknown". Do your homework, first. FIND A GRAVE ADMINISTRATORS SUPPORT THIS POLICY. Please feel free to add photos where appropriate, as you do not need to manage the memorial to add photos.

Please be kind to Photo Volunteers! We are out there in all kinds of weather in a variety of conditions to find your friend's/relative's graves. We are not after a Pulitzer Prize and sometimes even our best effort may produce a not-so-good photo. If any of my photos are not to your liking, please leave me a message and I will try to get a better one. I will not be offended.

NOTE: Due to the uncalled-for accusation by another unhappy contributor, I feel the need to make this statement: All photos that I have posted on Find a Grave ARE photos that I have taken myself, or, in the case of a few portrait photos, I received permission to use them and it is so stated in the photo's caption. Photos that I've posted of cemetery gates, signs, statues, buildings, points of interest, mausoleums, etc. that have been added to a cemetery's profile page were ALL taken by me and were given to the Admins of this site for posting if they chose to do so. Family photos are all photos that are in my possession, taken by me or immediate family members who are no longer living. I have never lifted photos from other websites so if you see photos on other websites that have been posted by me to Find a Grave, those photos were lifted from this site and used without my permission. I have only given permission to others to copy headstone photos, not any other type of photo.

Since March 2013 I have taken over management of approximately 25,000 memorials in Inglewood Park Cemetery from Chris Mills. Please continue to send suggestions for corrections using the "Edit" tab and I will get to them as soon as I can.

RE: Peggy Jones
Thank you for searching for the grave of Peggy Jones and creating memorials for Francis Jones (1869-1941) Florence Jones (1877-1952) and Lloyd Jones (1896-1952). Your work is greatly appreciated. Have a great week and enjoy the fall season.

I want to thank you for the photos you took and added to the graves for Annie and Oscar Meyer. Dedicated people like yourself are what make Find A Grave a wonderful way to remember the ones who have gone before.

So many Zimmermans
The requesting party cannot be related to all of them . . . I'm wondering what's up.

RE: Aunt Ocie
Got her. She was Ocey Veva Mahler on the SS Death records. She was buried under Ocey V Mahler in Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes. I'll request a transfer to me and get all the data corrected. There is a picture of her headstone on the site (71414205).

Whew, this was kind of fun playing detective.

Take care and thanks for all the help.

RE: Jack Porter
Jack Porter is my dad's brother. My father is Walter J. Porter. He was born on Sept 11, 1927 and died on August 7, 2001.

Jack Porter was born to Harrison and Pearl Porter in East Carroll, Lake Providence, Louisiana. Harrison Porter is my grandfather. Jack was a sharecropper in Louisiana, and traveled to Lake Village, Arkansas to Sharecrop. Because of opportunity and because of my grandmother Helen Bunn Thompson who married Harrison Porter, Jack's father decided to run off the farm in the 1930' grandmother migrated to Los Angeles. Jack is one of the family members that migrated also. He later married Nathaniel after he divorce Dora Scott from Arkansas. Dora knew voodoo, so she put a curse upon Jack, and he almost died...However, he did survive. Jack loved to fish and I remember him fishing and bringing it to my grandmother's home. I have a few pictures of Jack and one was a photo of him with a very large bass.

What is it that I need to tell you or give you to prove that Jack is my Uncle???

Hi BJ. Thanks for writing. I have to check with my mom and find out where Aunt Ocie is buried. I do see I have her in Inglewood but I think that's because her first husband was buried there. I have another place that lists Green Hills in San Pedro but I can't find a Green Hills listed. Her son Eeland, although a cousin, was my mom's last husband. He passed away in 2007 so I can't ask him. I did take off the location on Find a Grave and left a note saying I need to research.

PS - Thanks for all your hard work. I know some people have a real problem and can get pretty nasty. Keep up the good work.
