mary Elizabeth "lizzie" McAlister is daughter of James p. McAlister and Clementine Crooks McAlister Brower. She was born in Appanoose iowa with sister Johanna McAlister. her grandparents are Johnathan H McAlister and Cassie Godwin McAlister of Parke Co Indiana. Her father James P. died in Appanoose Co iowa, and Clementine Crooks McAlister then married Peter Brower and returned to Parke Co Indiana with Melissa, Johanna and Mary Eliz McAlister where these children were now in the Peter Brower family. the last name has always been correctly spelled with on one L..not 2. as time went by another L was added by mistake, especially in the census.
Still searching for graves of Grandparents McAlister in ADams, parke co Indiana. Cheryl Drummond...email@example.com
|Peggy Reed||Looking for any information related to Charles and Anna Dorman|
Thank you and Ms. Geraldine Barnett for posting all the good information on Charles and Anna Dorman memorial #126238865; in Riverside Cemetery. I have just found the obituary and am so very grateful to find this trove of information.
I have not been able to research the family history until recently and have wanted to pursue genealogy for many years.
These people are my great Grandparents; I am the granddaughter of their first son William Dorman whom I only met three times. I have not been able to locate his grave; however I found a newspaper article in the Terre Haute Tribune dated March 01, 1956 and the Wabash Valley Newspaper stating the obituary that he passed away at his daughter's home in Shoals, In. and was to be buried in River Side Cemetery. Can you identify with any of these statements and dates??
There was also a daughter; Gretchen Dorman born in Clinton 1912 and died in 1917 at the age of 4 or 5 years; I have not located her grave or any newspaper announcement. She was the second child born to William and Wahneta Grace (Hutton).
I have an affidavit that my Grandmother gave in 1940's to satisfy the WWII registration for of her son's; which she states this child being born and died in Clinton, Indiana.
I would assume that since William's parents had not passed and my Grandmother Wahneta Grace(Hutton) Dorman- Wineland had family buried in Riverside Cemetery that Gretchen would have been buried there. I have found no documentation. Can you possibly suggest where to look?
I would appreciate what suggestions you would make.
Thanking you once again for all the work you have done to help people find these things.
