Bio

I would like to say that I do Find A Grave in honor of my parents and those before them. I am very fortunate that my Mother goes with me on occasions to visit cemeteries and helps me with this.

I was recently asked by older cemeteries to also take a picture from a distance as well, this helps the cemeteries and those searching to identify where a memorial stone may be located in the cemetery.

There is no guarantee that all my photos will be the best on the day I take photos. I will still add but update if I have the opportunity to stop by the cemetery in the future.

I will take pictures if requested near my home area and update memorials for families. I work mainly on my relatives but also add others in my travels. My family research includes the following: Sweeney, Whitmoyer, Martenas, Keller, Sheatler/Shetler, Smith, VanDine, Miller and of course there are many others. Sweeney's is my biggest challenge. I am always looking for photos of any of the families mentioned. If anyone has anything to share, please let me know. Thank you.

I do have two pet peeves that bothers me. I came across a couple cemeteries that have many barely visible old stones faceup on the ground. I came to find out the caretaker digs a area in the ground and deposits the stone faceup which eventually in due times from mowing grass, will disappear. The other thing was, on a pile of left over dirt from a burial was the base of an old stone or possibly the whole memorial stone, couple days later it was hidden under the dirt pile when I came back.

I want to note, not all death certificates are accurate. I have across many mistakes. For what ever reason, maybe it was filled out days later and mistakes were made. I can vouch for this due to my own birth certificate which had the wrong mother and the wrong birthday.

I also manage and help to maintain the Katy Vandine Cemetery and Church.
