I have taken my YDNA, and have joined the Hawkins Worldwide DNA Project. I'm the group administer for group #10. So far, most of my Ancestors and their Decedents are from North Carolina. To see this Hawkins Family YDNA test results, Family Trees and pictures, go to the site below. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb. ancestry.com/~hawkinsdnaproject/tree_g-1.html
I encourage all members of this Family to tie your deceased ancestors and their decedents to findagrave.com so that we may link all of our family members together.
Being the Administer for this Hawkins Family group #10 in the Worldwide YDNA Hawkins Project. I will transfer all direct ancestors "in find a grave" that I have possession of over to the qualified participant of the Hawkins YDNA Project.
I believe that everyone should have the right of ownership for their direct ancestors in find a grave. Of course this will be based on a first come service, and all others shearing the same direct ancestors will be linked through your tree.
I'm trying very hard to link all individuals of this Hawkins Family together along with their allied families, to find a grave.
Thank You, James Hawkins Administer for group #10 Hawkins Worldwide DNA Project

Goat Island Hello Jim, You do not know me, but my wife and I are planning to buy a home in Burlington directly across the Haw from what the locals refer to as "Goat Island". We had heard all kinds of stories about the island but in order to separate fact from fiction, I wrote to the Alamance County Historical Society, and they were able to tell me some info, most importantly that Mr. Dock "Dude" Hawkins and Mrs. Ina Hawkins lived there for some time and built a home.I used this info in Google, and here I am! Any information you could provide me about Goat Island Mr. and Mrs. Hawkins, as well as any links to photographs or any historical information would be a huge help! We are hoping to honor the heritage and history of the property, and to do so, we would like to find out as much about the home and the immediate surrounding area as possible. From what I have managed to gather about Dock and Ina and their life on the island they were fascinating people that my wife and I would love to learn more about! Thank you!
John Pounds (no dates) Jim, you manage a grave for John Pounds at Cane Creek Monthly Meeting Cemetery, Snow Camp, Alamance County, # 42245522. We're wondering if you could possibly tell us anything at all about this grave. It would help if you could tell us where you found his name, on a stone or in a cemetery book?
