I'm a sociologist at UW-Eau Claire, book lover, travel lover, family lover. . .|
Much of my work on Find-A-Grave is coordinated with my daughter, Sandi Knutson Kaduce. We are particularly interested in cemeteries in Barron, Chippewa, Dunn, and Clark counties in Wisconsin.
Genealogy is my passion. Recording information and taking pictures of graves in my area is an important service I can provide to others. I appreciate those who add information and pictures that I do not have geographical access to. The ability to "connect the dots" or fill in the branches, so to speak, of our family trees is deeply meaningful to me. I also love history and appreciate the history I explore as I learn more about the graveyards and communities around me.
I am willing to share pictures and information with anyone, but I expect to be given credit for pictures used by others.
My love for graveyards, and the stories they hold, began with reading Edgar Lee Masters' "Spoon River Anthology" as a teenager. It is a collection of free-form poems, one for each individual buried in Spoon River (a fictional town). It is now entirely available on the internet: http://spoonriveranthology.net/spoon/river/. Enjoy!

Jane Gannon Roycraft Mem. #129685372 Her Death Cert. shows her parents to be Valentine Gannon and Eliza Brown. I have not been able to find where they are buried. I believe the Valentine Gannon that is buried in Prairie View is a son.
Mange takk for the gravestone photo of my Great-Uncle Karl Johnson. He was called Charlie by the family. I had tried to clean the stone and the "goo" did not come off. Since water is not available, I made a mess of a mess! I think the Barron County Genealogical Society may have copied and snapped photos of this cemetery too but they charge for their copies where people like you share sans cost. So it is!
16th May, 2015 a program is being planned in Menomonie by the Dunn county Genealogical Society about the Johnson family that will include Karl/Charlie and his sibs, uncles, aunts, etc.
By chance, are you related to this family? I am trying to trace the Gilbert Johnson family. He is buried at Highland Cemetery in the Town of Menomonie, Dunn county, WI. See Find A Grave.

Thanks so much for fulfilling my photo request. I appreciate the time and effort you put into it. The photos look great! May I use them in my family tree on Ancestry.com? I will definitely give you credit for the photos. Thanks again, Vicki C.

You're very welcome. Glad to have helped.

Thanks for the photo. I really appreciate it.

I moved her to the correct cemetery, Wayside. The lovely photos of her would be so nice placed there. Her husband will be joining her there on Tuesday.
She was my sister-in-law. Thank you.
|David Pike||RE: Sven Carl|
Would you mind assigning the maintenance of this memorial to me? I think I have a photo of old Sven Carl Johnson, but I can't positively identify it as him. I'd like to take the obituary and add a few things to it for Sven's bio.
Also, any information on the earlier generation of Sven and Peter's parents?
|David Pike||RE: Sven Carl|
Wow...that's great stuff. How did you come up with that? My mother and her sister Dorothy (still living at age 94 in Austin, MN) never met Sven and only thought that he lived in or around Chetek from what their father, Oscar, told them. Now I see he died before either my mother or her sister were born. Thanks so much for the connection, which also means we're related to some degree. Thanks again. I may reach out to you again on this.
|David Pike||RE: Ssven Carl Johnson|
I would be very interested. My great grandfather Johnson was either Sven Carl Johnson or Carl Sven (or Swen) Johnson. He was not in contact with the family except for my Grandfather when he died. I'd be interested to see if this Sven Carl Johnson could be great grandfather I'm seeking. Thanks for reaching out.
