Bio

My husband and I have always lived in Union Co., MS. Most of our ancestors are buried within 5-15 miles of where we live on the Tippah-Union County line in Cotton Plant, MS.
I taught second grade in the New Albany Public School system for 32 years, until my retirement in 2003. I have 2 married daughters and 7 grandchildren. . I love to sew, read, travel and do family research.
My interest in genealogy began with a 6th grade assignment to do a family tree. My great-grandmother Foley, who lived to be 101+ , answered many questions about my ancestors to help with the assignment. She also had many old photos of family members. I have taken those old photos and many others and made a pictoral family tree album for myself and each daughter. I am now in the process of photographing family gravestones and creating an album of all of them by family.
My husband and I also search for old, abandoned cemeteries and try to clean them and make photos of the graves. These graves are part of someone's family history, but also the history of the area where they lived. It should be preserved and recorded.
