Bio

Robert Thomas "Bob" Leitner, b. 31 Aug 1924 in Lacoochee. Pasco Co., FL s/o John Proctor Leitner and Blanche Gertrude Connell. Grew up in Dade City and Plant City, FL. Learned the electrical trade from my Uncle Chan Miller and also worked in the theater business. Managed theaters in Lakeland and Arcadia, FL. Left theater business to work for Tampa Ship Building Company as an electrician. Drafted into Army for WWII. Two battle stars for European theater and combat infantry badge. While on way to Europe, met Pauline Davis in Baltimore, MD and we married on my return. After discharge from army, went to work for Glenn L. Martin Aircraft (now Lockheed-Martin) in Baltimore, MD. In mid 1950's, transferred by Martin to Orlando, FL as Plant Engineer for new Plant. In mid 1960's sent by Martin to design plant in Albuquerque, NM. Resigned from Martin and went to Fairchild Aircraft in Hagerstown, MD as Facilities manager. Retired from Fairchild in mid 1980's and spent many happy years touring in a motorhome with my wife. My wife and I started our interest in genealogy from my cousin Fannie Bell Priest Kipp who research and issued a book, The Leitner Family In Florida, in the mid 1960's.
My wife passed away in 2003 and I remained in Maryland for several years. After open heart surgery in 2007 my son's family convinced me to relocate to Seneca, SC and be near them. Still in Seneca and working on genealogy. I guess it gets in your blood.
