***********NOTICE: PLEASE DO NOT TAKE OUR PHOTOS & PASS THEM OFF AS YOUR OWN! we are happy to fill any request especially if it's something we've already filled. Lindsay is well versed in copyright laws & you will likely get a cease & desist from our attorney. Not only is taking a photo that doesn't belong to you that you don't have permission to use unethical, but it's ILLEGAL!!!***********

UPDATE: January 2012 due to Find A Grave's lack of response to our photos being taken, all further images uploaded by us will be watermarked. When requesting a full-res image, it will arrive to you without a watermark.

Lindsay is a photographer in South Eastern Louisiana and a lot of the work she does is in the cemeteries. She has extensively researched the cemeteries in New Orleans and has tons of pictures and information on them.

Cody holds a degree in computer aided drafting & design as well as several years experience in the field. His knowledge of CAD & GIS is assisting us with our cemetery mapping project.

We are going to start working on GIS interactive maps for the cemeteries & we are beginning with St. Joesph in Thibodaux. If anyone would like to help volunteer, donate or learn more, please email. This is going to be a very large undertaking so any assistance is appreciated especially in the form of donations. We're hoping this will lead to potential grants to help cover costs as this would be a great deal of information in one place for many people including genealogists. Our intention is to have every tomb documented with a database that includes names, dates & GPS data so it would lead the person straight to the data &/or tomb. (***UPDATE: Save Our Cemeteries in New Orleans has requested our assistance in mapping their cemeteries. Their new director is working up a presentation for their board, we should hear something soon***)

Starting in 2011, Lindsay is working with a better file storage system. The images will be resized that we take to make them friendly to this site and we'll be keeping the original large image files. If you'd like to have one of the large images, please email us and include the name (or link to the memorial) and the date it was added to find a grave. We can't guarantee we'll still have the images after 6 months, but we'll do our best to keep them archived as long as possible.

When we take the photos we take several: one of the front and one of each and EVERY plaque/marker & one from the side if there are any plaques or inscriptions on the side(s).

We're happy to transfer listings to family members, unless the listing is our family. Feel free to email us about the listing you would like to have transferred, please include the memorial #, name & a link o the memorial you would like transferred.

We will also add pictures to linked family members interred in the same burial site if there is a marker/plaque with their name to help lower footwork and time for everyone involved. If there is not a memorial, we will still take the picture and archive it with the rest if we do not have time to set a memorial up.

If there is a discrepancy with our volunteer work, we'd appreciate a POLITE email so we can correct the error, or we're afraid you will be dealt with in kind. We hate to be rude here, but we've had dealings with some pretty ugly contributors so the following statement is for them: You are not the Find A Grave police, there is no need for such a crack team of specialists and you certainly aren't gaining friends by being ugly in private... Please do us all a favor and figure out how to manuver through society, the internet isn't an annonymous forum for your pent up aggression, please behave as you would in front of physical, tangible people or maybe you should unplug yourself and reflect on your behavior BEFORE you take it out on someone trying to help. Volunteers are what makes this site wonderful AND work, please keep in mind not everyone is perfect and that we're using our own resources to help this community out.
As we climb down off of our soapbox, please continue to be a PRODUCTIVE member of Find A Grave, continue making ACCURATE, THOROUGH memorials and every once in awhile, please sponsor a memorial. It's only a one time $5 cost, is forever and helps cover the many costs with running and maintaining a site such as this.
