Bio

I have been doing genealogy research on my McClure family for over 55 years. I have documented my entire line back to my immigrant Ancestor, a Scotsman, James MacClure born In Northern Ireland around 1690 (my 6th Great Grandfather), who arrived in Boston 1720 From Northern Ireland during the Great Ulster-Scot Migration and later settled in Chester, NH. I have researched most of the descendants of my immigrant ancestor. In fact, in order to keep all the New England McClure's straight, I researched ALL the McClure's in New England. I have thus far determined there were five immigrant McClure's that arrived and initially settled in New England in and around the time my Ancestor arrived.

My 5th Great Grandfather and son of James MacClure and Jean Andrews was William MacClure, Patriot, Pioneer, Teacher and surveyor of a great part of Broome County, and founder of McClure Settlement.

My Paternal research on my direct McClure line culminated in my membership into the Son's of the American Revolution (SAR) and my research into my Maternal line culminated in my acceptance into the Mayflower Society.

Forty years ago I started researching my wife's family and that too culminated in her membership into the Daughter's of the American Revolution (DAR).

One of my self appointed tasks right now is to locate and document as many graves in my immediate area that belong to soldiers who fought in the American Revolution and post them on Find A Grave with proper annotations as to their service. They may have been forgotten over the ages, but they will not remain forgotten!
