I am a retired engineer living in Michigan who fills in many of his days with golf and woodworking.|
But my favorite retirement activity is discovering my family genealogy history along with the stories and oral history as it has been passed down through the generations.
I have documented 7000+ family member's genealogy using MyHeritage software on a private family web site. Now I am adding some of my ancestors to Find A Grave to make some of my findings public.
Family names being researched include: Brock, Weaver, Critchlow, Yetter, Gilchrist, McFadden, Ellenberger, Orr, Miller, VanDyke, Hoffman, Stevens, Shaffer, Atwell, Snay and Ghost.
Genealogy records available for any branches of my family if you are related to one of my documented memorials. Also fell free to use any of my posted photos. Higher quality versions are usually available for the asking.

Seems odd though, about the same age but the WWII enlistment has a different date. It was a shot in the dark and both from Indiana. I'll keep searching. thanks
|Roberta (Schott) Cyr||Hebert Simons|
I looked on FamilySearch.org for Herbert Simons. Found this US Army enlistment WWII for HERBERT SIMONS.
Event Date: 18 Oct 1943 (but he died Aug 1, 1943?)
Event Place: Evansville, Indiana
Birth year: 1918
Education level: Grammar school
Civilian Occupation: Semi-skilled chauffeurs and drivers, bus, taxi, truck and tractor
Marital status: divorced without dependents
Military rank: Private
Serial # 35807894
according to this he enlisted Oct 18, 1943. The picture I have was taken Jan 1943 and H.L. Simons was a Sgt. Either this is another Herbert Simons or the initials are for another person. Any suggestions?
Hi Jack, I posted the photo for Imogene but they have not put the death dates on the stone yet, If I see when they do I will repost the photo with the dates.

Unfortunately when I was at the cemetery yesterday, neither I or my husband could find a specific marker for Jane. I came home and did some research and found the history website noted on her photo request as to her location of burial. I posted the website for your information and those who are researching the Slocum family. I am sorry the only picture I could post was of the monument for her Mother and Father, but as the website indicates, she is buried beside them at the monument.

You're welcome. Glad to help.

I'm glad I could help with the Gilbreath picture. By the way, one side of the gravemarker has Ira and Marie Gilbreath's names on it. The opposite side bears Jay and Lorraine Gilbreath's names.
