Bio and Links
Bio Photo I think that no one is ever gone until no one remembers them.

My name is Jerry Carlton Rice. People ask me why I use all three of my name's? When your name is Jerry Rice you had better add another name to it if you do not want to be lost on the field.
My Father was also named Jerry C Rice and my mother was Jane FDR Lawson. My grand mother, Sis, said my name was going to be Butch so that is the name I grew up using.

I love history. I love it even more when I can touch it. And by remembering my family down the family tree line I have been able to touch history. With history, I have met many people that have gone on before me. And by reading about them, I have also been able to come to know them.
I also love kids, mostly when they live with you and not me. But it is okay for them to visit as long as they do not stay when you leave. LOL.
Reading about missing murdered and abused children made me want to do something to fight against the abuse. And for me, the best thought I could come up with, for me, was to make sure that no child is ever forgotten. This is one reason I started the Forgotten Angels page on Face Book.
I now have the names of over 500 children that have passed away listed on that page. And each day we wish a Happy Birthday or Farewell to those listed for that day.
I also maintain a name list so that when someone wants to find a child, they can be easily located. That list can be found at

As I said above, I think that no one is ever gone until no one remembers them. For this reason I now post pages here for any child that has passed that I cannot find already posted here. Some children are well known and cared for. But some are nothing more than a foot note in someone else's story. Those are the children I am hunting.

My mission here is two fold.
The first is to give a place for every forgotten child to be remembered.
And the second is to give a place for each and every person in my family that I know of that does not have a place some where else.
I also work toward linking my family tree up so that someone working on their own family tree can find a place to work on their own tree with out it costing them a dime.
Find A Grave is free. And for this, they are a total treasure to me. I think each and every one of the people behind Find A Grave will have a place in Heaven for their caring loving work here.

My Great Grand Mother, Maude Estell Dowdy-Mundy started me out working on my family tree. She would set me down and tell me stories about her father and mother.
Over the years I have collected stories from many family members about the people in my family. And I hope to share as many of those stories as I can.

I would like to thank each and every person that has set up a page for one of my family members and then transfered management to me. You are all special in my book.
Also if I am managing the page of your loved one and you wish to claim it please let me know. I will transfer management to you. But If you wish I will be honored to keep manageing the page, and will be sure to give the best of care.
I will also except management of any site that anyone wishes to pass to me to care for.
Every one should be cared for and remembered.

Larry is not home today, but we will sit down together tomorrow and go over everyone's name in the picture.
Larry grew up in Columbus Ga. His father grew up in Whitfield Co Ga. His mother grew up in Bartow Co Ga.
We live in Vance Co NC and have tried to do research out of Ga with limited success.

John Byrd Dowdy
Jerry, we have just checked the page for JBD and are thrilled to have the picture and the new info. Larry has the picture now and is reading the names printed on each person in the picture.
His mother May Belle was born May 6,1919.She was born with a purple birthmark over her right eye. When JBD died, Martha Dowdy Johnson was about 4 months pregnant with May Belle. When she saw her father's body, her right hand flew up touched the right side of her face over her right eye. That is how May Belle got that birthmark.
When you add to your family tree, Larry has 3 brothers, Jessie, Willard, and Marvin. He also has 2 sisters who are deceased;1 unnamed baby girl, and 1 sister named Marie. He has 2 sisters living, Donna and Kay.
Thank you again for getting back in touch and for the new info. Charlotte and Larry
PS Today is Larry's 70th birthday and this has made his day even better.

John Byrd Dowdy
Jerry, thank you for responding back to us about John Byrd Dowdy. I am Larry's wife and do all of his research for him.
John B Dowdy was his great grandfather. Larry's mother was May Belle Johnson. Her mother was Martha Dowdy .She died of leukemia in 1950.She was a beautiful woman with dark eyes and dark hair. Martha Dowdy was married to Enoch Johnson.
Larry's brothers and sisters do not know much about their family history and what little they thought they knew has been proven wrong. The article you posted on Martha June Dowdy was new to everyone. Also the date and place of John B Dowdy's death and his burial was also different from what they were telling. Thank you so much for posting the truth.
We both would love to know about the story about the accident that killed John B Dowdy. We do not have any info on Sarah Elizabeth Kirby Dowdy Any info that you are willing to share will be much appreciated.
God bless and Merry Christmas, Charlotte and Larry

RE: Sister
Hi there! Sorry for the late reply as I've been really busy at work. First of all, I really do apologize for the misleading "sister" reference. It was an honest mistake on my part as I should have appended "in-Christ" from the very moment I started my virtual cemetery here to spare others of the resulting confusion and, in a few cases, being offended. And it's true that I also have a broken (and loving) heart for these children who are now in God's loving arms. As I've mentioned in my profile, I used to be a victim of violence in school, which is why I know exactly how it feels to live a life filled with fear of being hurt or abused daily, especially when you're a young child. It is only through God's loving, merciful grace that I was able to live to tell it all. And I really do vow to myself to keep loving and caring for these children as if they were my true siblings. Thank you so much for your kind understanding. I also wish you all the success in discovering more wonderful things about my big sister-in-Christ Roiti Dias and God bless you too!
