I live in North Georgia and have been doing family genealogy for 15 years. My family is from Pennsylvania and my wife's family is from Georgia. I know how hard it is to find information when you are so far away so I like to help our any way I can. By doing grave memorials I hope I can help someone find their relatives.
Robert Ray (Jr and Sr) Thank you for letting me know about this discrepancy. When I added the memorial to Robert, Jr. I did not know his birth date. Someone else provided me with the parental link. The assumption was that Jr would have the same name as Sr. Shows you what assuming does.
I have added the birth date to Jr and deleted the middle name and the link to Sr.
Thank you again and please let me know if you find any other errors among my memorials. Try as I may sometimes I make mistakes. I wish I was perfect.
Mr. & Mrs. Kahanec were the parents of my sibling's childhood best friend.
Stumbled upon their graves while cleaning a different stone; unfortunately did not have time to properly clean and photograph their stones. (Will attempt to clean and post both of their stones in the near future.)
Pleased to have their memorials safe w/ a family member.
RE: Tom R. Hopper #156942494 My info came from the U.S. Veterans Gravesites, ca.1775-2006 where they list Tom R Hopper's burial location as: Name: Tom R Hopper Service Info.: SGT US ARMY KOREA Birth Date: 16 Nov 1930 Death Date: 13 Sep 2002 Cemetery: Union Memory Gardens Cemetery Address: Blairsville, GA 30512 and the other info came from the U.S., Social Security Applications and Claims Index, 1936-2007 which lists his parent names:
Birth Date: 16 Nov 1930 Birth Place: Jackson, North Carolina Father Name: Semer N Hopper Mother Name: Margie M Mitchell
I do realize that the SSDeath Index lists his birth year as 1931 - I chose to use 1930 but that is typical of records being off by a year.
Peggy Ready Bob, Thank you so much. I didn't post her photograph but had seen the mistake and have ask Leon to re-post it as picture of a person. I have a friend on Find A Grave that lives near Arlington that does beautiful headstone photographs for me that will take care of that after her burial. Thank you for your service and Welcome Home. Michael Orechovsky Bob, Michael is my grandfather. Per his death certificate, he died on May 30, 1919 from acute tuberculosis. His parents were Joseph Orechovsky and Mary Mudrik both from Austria. He was a coal mine laborer. My dad Joseph was only 1 year old when his father died. Michael is buried at St Peter & Paul, Duryea Pa on August 1, 1919.
I have been searching for the grave of Michaels Father, Joseph 11/7/1870-5/4/1907. Research has him also in St P&P Duryea, but no headstone exists. Joseph was a Polish laborer killed outside the Jermyn #1 colliery in Old Forge Pa by a mine car at the rock dump. His name was spelled wrong in the Pa State Miners Archive as Orechkesky. Can u help?
