Will Sampson Well I had a chance to read the book Zoe wrote. A friend of mine ordered it and shared it with a group of us who office together. The more I learn about this man, the more I'd like to know (we all would). The art work is wonderful, I look back through it often. One of my favorites is the self-portrait (is that a cigarette he is holding?) The story she wrote about his life and her time with him was too interesting to put down until I reached the end, then wished there was even more to read. A small part was so very sad, but I must say I consider her, his other friends, and especially his family so very lucky to have had him in their lives. He certainly was, still is fascinating to hear about, and sadly left this life too soon in my opinion, but we all have to follow our own path, live, learn, experience, and move on to better when its our time. I'm so very happy to see all the comments about him today, meaning he is certainly not forgotten by fans. His family and close friends will never forget him, I just hope they are all able to feel his presence around them as I firmly believe our loved ones do look in on us often until we all meet up again. What a comfort that is. If you can enlighten us, please let me know if there is some special meaning with the house built over his grave. That picture posted here on this site is the one of the nicest resting places I've seen.
RE: sonnys book I haven't Zoe's book still, but I've read the text (and all it's previous versions) and I enjoyed it so very much, especially the part about WS house. I love Zoe's humor and specific warmth of her author's style.
I've translated her text in Russian - just for my pleasure. I would like to publish the book here too, but I'm not sure now, that the publishing will be possible.
It was my dream from long ago - to look at paintings of so talented actor, so Zoe made a kind of miracle for me - then, at 80th, and now (and not only for me, I'm sure).
I know also, Zoe sent a lot of messages, asking for Will Sampson's children and grandchildren photos for her book.
Dear Pam, your uncle was really unusual, not ordinary person. And your aunt has shown herself as a talented memoirist. So I guess, all of your family must be very gifted people.
