Bio and Links
Bio Photo I have been an active member of findagrave a lot longer than this bio reflects. I am no novice. I first joined under a nickname some years ago. Because of health reasons, I had to leave for a while, but I'm back.
I love taking cemetery pictures. I try to present them as I actually see them in the cemetery. I don't "fix" them. #1 because they should look natural and #2 because I'm probably not talented enough. I do try to clean the markers up (if possible) before I take the picture. If you see a stone for your family member that needs repair, please contact the cemetery and make a request, most will gladly fix it at no charge.
I've been an avid genealogist with over 40 years experience and would love to hear from you.

In the event you are no longer able to care for your memorials, please think of transfering them to someone who has been on FAG for some time so you know they will be well managed. Unfortunately, there are so many memorials on FAG without managers due to many reasons. Maybe a fallen graver, or the creator/manager may no longer have time or has health issues, all memorials need someone available to add information or transfer. It is so frustrating to try and contact a memorial manager and there is no response.

All transfers must be requested through the edit button on the memorial and I follow the Findagrave guidelines. There are few exceptions. Don't jump on Findagrave and try to start collecting your relatives, I will turn you down "flat" until you are an established contributor. Contributor means just that, you must be contributing. I'm sorry, I've had a number of bad experiences.

Happy Hunting,

I would like permission to add Wilma's photo to my genealogy files. Her husband is the son of Lola Gilkison (my husband's lines) and William Earl

Thank you & help request
Thank you so much for adding the info on my Mom, Dolores Brogan Carr (# 167241329 ).
I have tried to contact "TimelessSpirits" to have some of the information on her father, Hollis Alexander Brogan (# 72180130 ) updated but I have not received a response from him/her. I realize that people are busy, and may not be checking messages frequently, but I'm not sure how to tell if they are still active contributors or not. Perhaps you know this contributor.
Also, when I wrote Mom's obituary, I just put "of Austin, TX" because that's where she lived for over 40 years since 1972. I don't know if it makes a difference for the records, but she actually died in a nursing home in Williamson Co. Texas where we had just moved her in May. She was only there a few months, but her death certificate is issued from that county.

I would love to link Dolores to her mother as well as her father (both buried at Rose Hill Burial Park in Oklahoma City). Velma is next to husband Hollis at Rose Hill Cemetery, but I cannot find her in the search engine. Velma's legal name is Willie Velma Brogan but her gravestone says Velma W. Brogan because she went by Velma. Her maiden name was Brown. I've tried searching multiple ways. Her mother was Clora (Newman) Woods (Woods was her 1st husband, then married to 2nd husband William Brown and 3rd husband Westburg) and Clora is also at Rose Hill # 44477754. The infant buried next to Clora is a nephew. (Families get a little messy sometimes).
Velma was born on April 20, 1907 in Connerville, Johnston Co., Oklahoma and died January 6, 1985 in Oklahoma City. Velma and Hollis were married January 1, 1927 in OKC. Hollis' brother and 2 sisters are buried at Chapel Hill.

I have additional information on their lives and relatives if it would be useful.

I don't want to create a new memorial if that will duplicate someone else's efforts. Are you able to contact "TimelessSpirits"? Or if you are in the area, could you photograph Hollis and Velma's gravestone at Rose Hill? Should I create a memorial for Velma? I live in San Antonio, so cannot easily photograph the gravestone. With so much information would it be easier to e-mail you? I could provide attachments like the death certificate, marriage license, etc. if they are needed.

I don't understand your request. Did the edit process?

Would you please OK the edit request? His father (Sonny Johnston), a close friend, just passed away and I'd like to get his Dad's memorial completed.

RE: Duplicate
Hey Sandy!

I try to check once a year or so. I've had instances where I made a duplicate (unknowingly) and people ended up doing a lot of family links to it. At that point it is so hard to get in contact with everyone to try to get it all "fixed" on the correct memorial.

Not to mention it just bogs the site down when you have so many duplicates.

I appreciate you taking care of it and please let me know if you ever find any on my part :)

(And thanks for all your awesome work. I see your name on Find A Grave a lot!)

Hey Sandy!

Looks like you might have accidentally created a duplicate memorial for Sylvia McDonald.

More on Pearl Hulett
I just noted a BAD error in my message re: Pearl Hulett. I stated that she moved from Laurel county Ky, with her daughter Flora. It should read, her parents left Kentucky circa 1895 with their daughter Flora. Pearl was Flora's younger sister born in 1897, probably in Texas.
Sorry, I usually proof read before posting. GW

Pearl Hulett in Oklahoma
Like you, I have done genealogy for more than 30 years. I have recently started contributing to Find A Grave. Today I found the grave of a relative (1st cousin once removed) that you are maintaining. Pearl Hulett moved from Laurel county, Ky. circa 1896 with a 3 year old daughter, Flora. They settled in Texas where I believe Pearl was born in 1897. The family name was Douty or Doughty. I have seen it spelled both ways. Pearl later wound up in Oklahoma where she and her husband were successful in the cattle business. In Laurel country, Ky., in the area the Dougty family lived, there were several Pitman familes. I do not off, off hand, know of any connections between the Doughty family and the Pitmans but just wanted to ask if you by chance was connected with Pearl Hulett nee Doughty. I salute you for your dedication in preserving history. Sincerely, George Williams, London, Ky.
