I have been an active member of findagrave a lot longer than this bio reflects. I am no novice. I first joined under a nickname some years ago. Because of health reasons, I had to leave for a while, but I'm back. |
I love taking cemetery pictures. I try to present them as I actually see them in the cemetery. I don't "fix" them. #1 because they should look natural and #2 because I'm probably not talented enough. I do try to clean the markers up (if possible) before I take the picture. If you see a stone for your family member that needs repair, please contact the cemetery and make a request, most will gladly fix it at no charge.
I've been an avid genealogist with over 40 years experience and would love to hear from you.
In the event you are no longer able to care for your memorials, please think of transfering them to someone who has been on FAG for some time so you know they will be well managed. Unfortunately, there are so many memorials on FAG without managers due to many reasons. Maybe a fallen graver, or the creator/manager may no longer have time or has health issues, all memorials need someone available to add information or transfer. It is so frustrating to try and contact a memorial manager and there is no response.
All transfers must be requested through the edit button on the memorial and I follow the Findagrave guidelines. There are few exceptions. Don't jump on Findagrave and try to start collecting your relatives, I will turn you down "flat" until you are an established contributor. Contributor means just that, you must be contributing. I'm sorry, I've had a number of bad experiences.

Years ago when I first started with findagrave it was common practice to photograph the stones and add all the names, even the living. The custom was changed a few years back, but there were a lot of memorials out there that stated still living. Not to many of us went back through our memorials and searched for those to delete them.
I would have been happy to delete my memorial as I only want to hang on to my family. I wish I could find family to transfer all my stranger memorials. I always feel better if they are with someone who has information they can add. I don't add the non family memorials anymore, because there are so many doing the cemeteries. I still take photos and post them when possible.

I can't delete my memorial because I didn't create it, Phillip Pitzer did so. I only manage it and you can not delete a memorial that someone else created even though you manage it.

Are you related to the Bairds? The reason I ask, I have a memorial for Edwin already posted, but if you are related I will just delete mine.
Let me know.

Thank You for adding a memorial for her and also an obituary.

Thank you. I really appreciate it!

I don't know what difference it would make. They are duplicates and both in the wrong cemetery. Please don't forget.

It would be much more simple if cemeteries actually kept records of which graves had stones, but I've not found one that does.
Sorry tried to help. good luck
