I have been an active member of findagrave a lot longer than this bio reflects. I am no novice. I first joined under a nickname some years ago. Because of health reasons, I had to leave for a while, but I'm back. |
I love taking cemetery pictures. I try to present them as I actually see them in the cemetery. I don't "fix" them. #1 because they should look natural and #2 because I'm probably not talented enough. I do try to clean the markers up (if possible) before I take the picture. If you see a stone for your family member that needs repair, please contact the cemetery and make a request, most will gladly fix it at no charge.
I've been an avid genealogist with over 40 years experience and would love to hear from you.
In the event you are no longer able to care for your memorials, please think of transfering them to someone who has been on FAG for some time so you know they will be well managed. Unfortunately, there are so many memorials on FAG without managers due to many reasons. Maybe a fallen graver, or the creator/manager may no longer have time or has health issues, all memorials need someone available to add information or transfer. It is so frustrating to try and contact a memorial manager and there is no response.
All transfers must be requested through the edit button on the memorial and I follow the Findagrave guidelines. There are few exceptions. Don't jump on Findagrave and try to start collecting your relatives, I will turn you down "flat" until you are an established contributor. Contributor means just that, you must be contributing. I'm sorry, I've had a number of bad experiences.
I'm sorry, I've had to remove my email address as someone is using it in an abusive way.

I believe this to be Susan Elizabeth Coleman Frey who was married to James Leopard Frey. Different family trees give different death dates, all around the same date and the same date of birth. I was wondering if you got this date from a cemetery book? I want to make sure that, for other researchers, I get it right in mine and I am thinking that this is the most likely date.
Thanking you for all you do,

Sondra, Thanks so much for all of the work you are doing to provide us with this information. It is truly appreciated!
In the information about William Kendall, it says he is the son of _____ Kendall and ____ Calloway. Is this info carved on his tombstone? If not, can you tell me more about how you know of this connection?
I am very interested in his wife Catherine IRVINE KENDALL. I believe she might be the sister of my "lost" great-great grandmother Isabella IRVINE. I know so little about her that I am looking for every possible lead/hint.
Thanks again so much for your help.

I am happy to see that you photographed the gravestone of Lester Halford in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery (Memorial# 77631699).
I would like to add this gravestone photo to the (non-profit) Alford American Family Association's collection of Oklahoma Obituaries, where his obituary is included. You can see the current collection at http://www.alfordassociation.org/OBITS/OKOBIT.htm.
May I have your permission to include your gravestone photos? If so, the photo caption will say:
Photo from [cemetery name, city, county, state]—www.findagrave.com
Permission granted by the photographer, Sondra Pitman Morrison
And thanks so much for your gravestone photo work!

Sorry. Around the time of the OKC bombing, I was cutting out obits from the OK Daily Newspaper and attaching them in a notebook. I only have the clippings, and the source.

My brother and I would like to contact you about some links you have made to our family tree. Samyel Todd (1864-1891) is our great grandfather, but we have had lots of trouble finding connections to earlier ancestors. We would really like to hear from you. Samuel and his father is buried in Todd Graveyard In Columbus.

Hi Sondra - That means we are related! By all means, keep Edwina's memorial. Which of the Grissom children are you descended from? Thanks, Juanita Allen

Hi Sondra - thanks for posting the photo of little Eddie (Edwina) Grissom's tombstone in Oakwood Cemetery, Hickman Co, Ky. Is there any way you can transfer it to me? I am the granddaughter of Eddie's sister, Maude Grissom. You can check me out on ancestry.com - the Wright-Allen Family Tree. I also have the Grissom family photo on my facebook page - so you can find it there. I remember my grandmother talking about her little sister Edwina who died young. I have just joined Find-A-Grave and am trying to do memorials for all my family. I live in Hawaii and will be taking photos of some graves here and entering them as well - not family, just family of friends. Thanks, Juanita Allen
