I am a retired Firefighter. Served four years with the U S Navy, 12 years with the Air National Guard.|
I like finding old cemeteries. Small cemeteries I take pictures of all marked graves.
Most of the memorials I have posted are not related to me. If you see a family member, let me know and I will transfer them to you.
Anyone may use the pictures I take for there family tree.

Hello Robert..I am attaching the message I wrote to Terri Smith ( a distant cousin) about this cemetery and our plans to visit it this Sept. Will email you when our dates are nailed down.
I will be going to the Midkiff Cemetery on Childress Road, the one that Daniel m. Midkiff once owned the land and now the lands belong to the Bays family. We hope to be there in mid Sept. We spoke to one of Eloise's ( i think that was her name) sons who took us to the lower cemetery on the hill. this was a couple of years ago... this is the area of the midkiff cemetery Gretchen is buried in, and Cee Martin Midkiff and Lucille Midkiff Thomas ( and your parents). the Bay's son told us there is another cemetery further up the mountain, with older stones...but we would probably need an ATV to make getting there easier...( he said if we give him notice, he could arrange it for us with his other brother. I have no idea what we will encounter when there. Would be nice to link up with Robert Fitch while there as he knows the area well and is so good at pics and locations..our exact dates arent set yet..probably around the 20th. I will try to document all I can when there...I hope to do some grave stone rubbings while there ( i have a kit)..but we noted that the stones in the lower section are so eroded that , i fear, a decent impression will be hard to get. I also hope the big billy goat that keeps the undergrowth in check isnt any grouchier. LOL I keep one eye on him and one eye on the stones.

Wow Bob, that was fast. Thanks so much for making that trip out there to Clay County to get these pictures. It is a beautiful drive along the Elk River. Wish I was there.

I would just like to let you know how much it meant to me to get that picture. Mary was my aunt. She was my dad's sister and even thought we lived on opposite sides of the country and I met her only twice she was very important to me and I miss her.
I can't say thank you enough. It is wonderful that you volunteer your time to do this for families.
Thank you again,
