Daughter of the late Lige Andrew and Betty Miser Roberts. I love to work puzzles--and every grave is a piece of someones family puzzle.|
I work mainly in the McMinn,Monroe and Meigs Co areas. We live close enough for me to venture into Roane and Loudon Co also. I am more than happy to make transfers of memorials. I love to see obits, pictures and family links made.
I have learned a lot of local history and geography while we are out looking for photo requests in the various cemeteries. My husband Robert locates a lot of the photo requests when he is with me.

Dear Ms. Harris,
The tombstone for B. M. Russell should be read to show that he was born 1832, not 1882. This is Barcley Mathes Russell, son of Barclay McGhee Russell and Nancy Sauls. The tombstone was probably paid for by Ludice Crowder's daughter, Etta Fennell, who was attempting to demonstrate her descent from the Russells. The 1860 census shows Ludicia in Nancy Saul's household, along with brothers Barcley and O'Connell. I don't know why Nancy had them listed under her surname, or where Barcley McGhee Russell was at that time. However, in 1870, there is Barclay McGhee Russell in the household with Nancy, who now lists her last name as Letner. Ludice is there as well. Later, Ludice will marry (or not) Richard F. Crowder and have two children, James Franklin Crowder and Etta, who will marry William Marshall Fennell. Ludicia moves with Etta and her husband to Indiana, but Etta either returned her for burial to Tennessee or at least had the tombstone carved.

Sorry, it is me again. I was going to put
links to Ralph West but he is also listed in
McMinn Co. #33011509. I left a message for
the McMinn creator. I am going to put the links to yours. I believe it to be correct, I have
ordered a death certificate for Eliza Lemons.
I am in hopes it will have her parents but I
have my doubts. I will pass it on if and when
I get it back. Thank you.

Thank you for the picture of my mother's grave. I made an edit suggestion for the file you created. As it turns out the grave stone is incorrect and unfortunately, it's the second one we ordered for her, both were engraved incorrectly. She died on September 29, 1990 in Florida but we decided to have her burried in the same cemetary as her paternal grandmother, Anna-Lou Derrick in her home state of Tenessee. When we went to a local artisan to order the grave stone it was remarked that she was only 40 years old. It seems that remembering her birthdate correctly the artisan forgot the date of death and origionally inscribed 1989. A relative brought this to our attention and some years later when we could make the trip to TN my step dad arranged for a corrected stone and it appears that it TOO is incorrect, this time adjusted too far in the other direction. I don't know if my family knows that this is the case but as I currently live in Europe and can't do much about it physically I though it could at least be noted on the file that the gravestone is in fact incorrect and the correct date of death is 1990.
Karen's daughter, Allison
